I hopped up. “Let’s go eat the gift of the trash gods.”
Brian’s gaze never left me as we ate molten cheese and chips. I couldn’t tell if it was because he was hammered or because I was such a vision shoveling bean dip into my mouth. What had just happened couldn’t happen again. I was set on Seth. Hell, I hadn’t even been with Zach since my big realization at my beta celebration.
I needed to get some space between Brian and me. He clearly had more on his mind than friendship. “I think I had too much to drink. I’m going to bed.”
Brandon lifted a brow as I shot up from my chair. Brian cringed and opened his mouth, but I hurried to my room, unwilling to hear what he had to say. After getting cozy in bed, there was a tentative knock on my door.
Well, shit.
“Come in?”
Please be Brandon. Please be Brandon.
Brian came in and closed the door behind him.
Damn it.
“Hey. Can we talk?”
With the cream comforter pulled up to my chin, I peered over my hands at a very drunk Brian. “Uh, yeah, sure.”
“I wanted to apologize for being so strange today. You remind me of my ex, and I’m kind of thrown off.” He shook his head. “I promise I’m not always this weird.”
I laughed. If anything, his behavior was in keeping with the weirdness I’d been living for the last year. “No worries. I haven’t quite been myself. There’s something so familiar about you.”
“Oh, yeah?”
I scooted up so I was sitting but kept the blanket snug against my chest. “Yeah. I just can’t figure out what it is.”
“Huh. You know?—”
I yawned. “Sorry. I’m not as young as I used to be. Day drinking takes a lot out of me.”
Brian chuckled. “Well, I don’t want to keep you up. If you need anything, just holler.”
“Thanks.”
He shut the door quietly, leaving me in the dark, the room slightly spinning.
The smell of linen with a hint of cigarette smoke filled my lungs as a heavy weight settled between my thighs. Soft lips pressed against my throat, urging me awake. I stubbornly kept my eyes closed, enjoying the playful kisses until he bit my earlobe.
“Hey.” I gave Seth a sleepy smile. “You woke me up.”
The skin around his deep brown eyes crinkled as he grinned down at me. “Sorry.”
I tentatively reached up to stroke his unruly black waves. They were as soft as I remembered. “Mm-hmm.”
He shut his eyes and leaned into my hand. “I missed you.”
I threw my arms around his neck, wrapping one leg around his hip to hold him in place. “Never leave me again.”
He touched his forehead to mine. “Never.”
I became very aware of his hot skin on my own. After a hungry kiss, he moved slowly down my naked body. No inch was left untouched by his hands and mouth. He nipped and teased my breasts, never fully committing to the attention. Tracing my stretch marks with the tip of his tongue, he moved to my inner thigh. He was so close to where I wanted him but still too far away. All my blood rushed south as his hot, wet mouth sucked the sensitive skin. My body pulsed with need, but Seth was taking his sweet time getting to the good part.
“I swear if you don’t—Oh!”
Seth pressed his tongue against my clit. As he rolled it over and over, I dissolved into a whimpering, shaking mess. I clutched the sheets to keep myself from ripping out his hair. Slowly dragging his flat tongue up and down, he never fully entered me.
