“Oh my God, Zander. I didn’t realize you were this playful and petty,” I joked only slightly, casually pushing him away.

“I wouldn’t say I’m petty,” he said. “I’m very protective, and I always keep it real.”

The friendly disposition he’d had earlier faded away as he stared at Trevor, which kind of threw me off. I wasn’t sure what kind of vibe Zander was getting from Trevor, but I needed us to be able to handle our business here without any issues.

“I don’t think you’re close enough to my fiancée to be calling her sis, but I’ll let that shit ride. We have a meeting to get to, though, so you’ll have to catch up with her another time.”

“I definitely will, and I’ll let Carson know you’re here, sis,” Zander said, placing emphasis on sis.

“He’s here too?” I asked as Trevor damn near drug me away by my hand.

“Yeah. This is our firm.”

Oh shit.

“Who is Carson?” Trevor asked, stopping in his tracks.

I might not have willingly gave him the full story of what happened that night, but this felt like a good time to clear my conscience, regardless of the consequences.

“He’s the friend that gave me the choker.”

“Aw yeah? Whereheat?”

“You want me to get him?” Zander asked with a smile, rubbing his palms together. “Because I can certainly do that.”

“Oh no. That’s not necessary,” was what I said, heading toward the receptionist.

“Nah. Go get him,” Trevor replied, making my heart drop.

Zander was a little too happy as he made his way toward the elevators. When he chuckled under his breath, I cursed under mine. Of all the law firms for Trevor to bring me to, he had to bring me to this one.

After Trevor signed us in, we headed toward the sitting area to wait to meet with whoever was supposed to be going over the prenup. That led to me asking him, “Who recommended this firm, and who are we meeting with?”

“Adam, and someone named Tristan Pierce.”

I could have turned into a puddle in my seat. God must have been punishing me for not coming completely clean. That had to have been the case. My leg shook and I rolled my tongue over my cheek. I wasn’t as worried about Tristan. He was frank but seemed to be a bit more careful than Zander, who appeared to be the wild card of the friend group. I was most concerned aboutwhat would happen if Carson came down, and I prayed he was too busy for the spontaneous summons for his presence.

Not long passed before Tristan joined us, and like Zander, he gave me a warm welcome and called me sis. Outside of that, he was very professional from the time he walked us to the conference room until the meeting was over. He allowed Trevor to express his concerns and go over what he wanted included in the prenup. Unlike where he would have drafted it with his attorney and had me look it over with mine, we created one together with Tristan that we both were satisfied with. I signed it even though I hated we were doing this because of Adam, but I was so drained mentally and emotionally that I didn’t care anymore.

When we headed out of the conference room and down the hall, chills covered my skin. I heated, and my heart slowed down. I didn’t have to see him to know Carson was near. The second we entered the lobby, my eyes landed on him, and it took everything in me not to smile. He looked good as fuck standing by the doors. The sun was shining through, making his glowing eyes even brighter. His feet were shoulder width apart, hands cupped in the center of him.

The dark gray suit he had on highlighted his wide frame. Instead of a button down shirt, he had on an unbuttoned black collar shirt that exposed the top of his chest and neck, showing off tattoos. My mouth watered in desire, and I swallowed as my nipples hardened. There was no way in hell I was lusting after this man with my fiancé standing right next to me.

Zander and Kaos were leaning against the receptionist desk, and while Kaos was wearing a scowl as he stared at Trevor, Zander looked amused. Tristan walked over to them as Trevor and I closed the space between us and Carson.

He smelled good, like the first two times I was in his presence. My eyes fluttered and I looked down, needing to focuson anything but how good this man looked. My pussy was wet as hell and I felt so bad, but I couldn’t control my attraction to him. Regardless of how much I knew I would never cheat and act on it, what I was feeling for Carson was seemingly growing stronger every time we were in each other’s presence.

“It’s good to see you again,” Carson said, and his raspy voice shot straight to my pussy.

“You too,” I damn near purred.Purred. In front of my man!

“How do you know my wife?” Trevor inquired.

Carson’s head slowly turned in his direction. “If she wanted you to know, I’m sure she would have told you.”

“Uh, I told you he’s my client’s boyfriend,” I shared quickly.

“We broke up,” Carson replied. “Well, like I said, we were never in a committed relationship. I am no longer devoted to her though.”
