He chuckled before it turned into another moan. “I ain’t gon’ be deep for long if you keep talking like that.”

My laugh turned into a moan when his hand wrapped around my neck. Hard strokes to my center led us both into another climax. I wasn’t sure how in the hell he still had energy when he told me to turn around and get on my knees, but I wasted no time doing just that.

Chapter

Eighteen

Carson

“Why’d you come for me?”Venus asked.

The question caught me off guard. Not because of what she was asking, but when. We’d been in Miami long enough to check into the hotel, freshen up, and get dressed. It was still early in the day, so I wanted to take her shopping until we had an appetite. The Edition was always my favorite hotel to stay at in Miami. I always got the same bungalow oceanfront penthouse suite.

Venus looked beautiful effortlessly in a linen two piece set. Even with the slightly loose fitting fabric, her hips and ass were on full display. Now that I could touch her, it was hard for me to keep my hands off her. They always ended up on her hips or waist, and every time they did, she melted against me and smiled.

“Why’d I come for you?” I repeated as she put her sunglasses on. “Because you’re my person.” Her shoulders relaxed as she looked at me. “I’ve never been good at casual dating because I crave consistency. Even when I wasn’t committed to a woman,I was devoted to her. I’ve always wanted that person that was mine, and I believe that’s you.”

She removed her shades as she closed the space between us. “I don’t want to do this halfway, babe. I don’t want to hold back. I settled for less with him. I won’t do that with you.”

“Good thing you don’t have to,” I assured her, wrapping my arms around her as soon as she was within reach. “I have to talk to you every day. I want to see you every day. If we’re busy, I at least want you in my arms while we sleep.”

“We have to talk,” she added, “reallytalk. Not just the small, superficial things. I want all kinds of intimacy. Not just sex. I don’t just want you to love me. I need you to respect me and be loyal to me. If you realize you don’t really like me?—”

“I like you, and every second that passes with you in my presence, I like you more. You don’t have to ever worry about that. I like you, I want you, and I won’t do anything to lose you.”

With a small smile, she stood on the tips of her toes and leaned up for a kiss. My hands lowered to her ass, and we stood there intertwined until my dick started pressing against her. As much as I wouldn’t have minded getting in a quickie, our private driver was on the way. We took advantage of the Moet in the mini bar and had a glass while looking at the ocean, and I couldn’t wait to get down to the beach. By the time we finished our champagne, our driver was here.

Our first stop was to the design district, and quite frankly, I don’t know what the hell I was thinking letting that be the first thing we did for the day. At first, she was hesitant when I told her she could get whatever she wanted. The longer we stayed out there, the more relaxed she became. I didn’t give a damn about her going from one designer store to the next, but I wasn’t expecting it to take as long as it did. At the most, I thought we’d be there for about two hours.

Her ass shopped for six.

I was glad we were in a SUV that could hold her boxes and bags, and that we were flying private and had space. We were there for so long and walked so much we worked up an appetite for both lunch and an early dinner before we made it back to the hotel. Since it was our first day there, we decided to chill at the hotel for the rest of the evening. I booked an in-suite couples massage that led to a random nap, and when we woke up bored, we went down to Basement Bowl for a few rounds of bowling and drinks. By the time our day was over, I had even more confirmation that she was the one for me.

Our bond was built on friendship and chemistry, attraction and infatuation, loyalty and care. Now that we were finally spending time together, I was falling in love with this woman, and I had no desire to ever get up.

“Hey, babe,” she called sweetly, denting the bed with her knee.

I turned to face her. She’d gotten up to do whatever, and I didn’t realize how tired I was until I started drifting off to sleep. When she extended a box in my direction, I frowned in confusion. Clearing my throat, I sat up.

“Happy Valentine’s Day,” she said with a smile.

Chuckling, I shook my head. “Happy Valentine’s Day. I don’t need anything. You’re my gift. When did you get that anyway?”

When she realized I wasn’t going to accept the box, she got back in bed and set it on my lap.

“Remember when we were in BVLGARI and I left you in there and told you I had to step out because I had no service?” I nodded, and she continued. “Well, I went next door to Dior Men and copped this for you.”

Sighing, I shook my head as I lifted the box. “You really didn’t have to get me anything, V.”

“I wanted to. You spent a hell of a lot of money on me today.”

“So?”

“So… it’s Valentine’s Day.” Her smile was warm as she opened the box and revealed a pair of dark sunglasses. I could only laugh because I’d been complaining about how bright the sun was and squinting but I didn’t bother to get any shades. “Now you won’t have to squint for the whole trip.” For a while, I just stared at it and laughed until she said, “I know it’s not a big gift but?—”

“It’s perfect. It’s actually the best gift anyone has ever gotten me. I had a need, one that I wasn’t willing to meet for myself, and you satisfied it. You considered me and got me something to increase my comfort. Thank you, baby.”

Her shoulders hiked as she grinned then shimmied, and it was the cutest thing I’d ever seen. Making me happy truly made her happy, and I don’t know why that made me so emotional. I guess because I was used to being the one spoiling a woman and ensuring she was taken care of. As much as I hated her spending money on me, I was flattered that she got me something, and not just something she wanted me to have, but something I actually wanted and needed. After setting the box and sunglasses on the nightstand, I pulled her onto my lap and kissed her. Just when I didn’t think the day could get any better, Venus made sure it did.
