"There's no replicating it." I sloppy smiled as I brought the flower to my nose. Few men caught me off guard, but this guy was lethal. My vision clouded.No crying."Thank you for bringing me this."
I rounded the desk and wrapped my arms around him. "I'm so glad you're here."
"That bad?" He held me tight.
Yes.
"What're you doing downtown?" I wished to stay against his solid chest for the rest of the day. Maybe even all week. Memory of the chiseled muscles of his arms and chest beneath the shirt teased my mind.
"I had a meeting with the police chief and commissioner this morning." He lowered his voice to a whisper and leaned his head close to me. "Want me to arrest him?"
His hot breath teased my ear. Tingles skirted down my spine. "Won't that get you in trouble?"
He let go of me with one hand to smooth hair off my face. "When it comes to you, I would do many things that'd surprise you."
"Maybe let's not get you in hot water today."
His eyebrows pulled in, creating a wrinkle between them. "I wish I could stay longer, but I've got a meeting with the mayor of La Jolla."
I forced myself to step out of the embrace. "I'll see you tomorrow."
He cupped the back of my head. My heart pounded as he stared transfixed on my lips. Would he do it?
He leaned in.
Kiss me. Yes!
I couldn't breathe.
He halted within inches of my lips. "If I kiss you, I'll never make it to my meeting."
His hand slid down my arm to hold my hand.
No. Damn it.
His eyes narrowed in warning toward Nolan. "Text me if you have any trouble today."
He squeezed my hand before turning away. His walk out of the building involved him tipping his hat to a lady in jeans and heels as she entered. Smooth and sexy. Absolutely lethal.
"You're dating a cop?" Nolan squeaked out.
I didn't answer. That ought to get Nolan to stop humping my leg for the rest of my shift.Thank you, Seth.
