“Thank you guys,” I sigh.
“I’m sorry all of this happened. Especially with the judge. I always knew he was corrupt. I just hate that someone had to get hurt for him to go down,” Kathie says.
“What do I need to do going forward?” I ask.
“I need you to be completely transparent with me on everything,” Naomi says. “Any other crimes you saw or knew of. You are a victim in this, and you will not be in any trouble at all, but the more information we have, the longer they go away.”
“I… can I write it out?” I ask.
“That’s fine,” she smiles. “Get some sleep, okay?”
“I need to shower in acid first,” I say. “But thank you.”
“I will keep you as updated as I can. I’d advise you to avoid leaving the property alone until we have them in custody.”
“Okay,” I sigh.
I lay my head on Dominic as everyone says goodbye. I stay like this for a while until someone breaks the silence.
“Matt, why don’t you and Dom help her shower? I’ll make us all something to eat. We can curl up and watch a movie,” Natalie says.
“Do you think that’s…” Matt starts to say.
“Let’s make that movie in bed,” I say. “I want to lie down, but I don’t think I’m ready to sleep. I don’t think I will ever be able to sleep again.”
“Are you going to drool all over the place again if we help you shower?” Dominic asks.
“Probably,” I laugh. “I feel unclean, and it makes me want to peel my skin off.”
“I don’t have the self-control that Dom does,” Matt says matter-of-factly.
“Good,” I say as Dominic helps me up.
“Shouldn’t have said that,” Matt says, scooping me into his arms, making me laugh.
“Natalie,” Dominic says.
“Nope. You two go help her and have fun. I don’t need to be involved to enjoy. I’m not the jealous type. Also, I think she would probably still stab Matt in the face for you, even if she does want him to fuck her. She’s not a threat,” she says, waving us off.
“Eh. I wouldn’t stab him, but I would definitely choose Dominic over anyone,” I say.
“I’ll take it,” Matt says, carrying me toward the stairs.
“You have to actually help her shower, Matt,” Dominic chuckles as he follows us upstairs.
“Of course,” he says.
When we get to the bedroom, he takes me to the bathroom before setting me on my feet. I put my arms out for both of them to hug me. I’m not usually a hugger, but I need comfort. My head is still a mess. Dominic wraps my wrists, as he always does, to keep the stitches dry.
Dominic turns the shower on before he steps back and leans against the counter. He nods to Matt as if giving him a green light. I keep my eyes on Dominic as Matt helps me get undressed. I trust Matt, but looking at Dominic reminds me that I’m safe. I can feel that there’s panic threatening to come forward, and I don’t want it to surface.
Matt sweeps hair off my shoulder and carefully runs his fingers across the spot on my neck where the needle created a bruise. My eyes flutter when he gently kisses the spot, making Dominic smile. Tingles spread across my skin when his hands move down to my waist. Another soft kiss on my neck, and I sigh.
“Get in and sit. We will join you,” Dominic says, stepping closer to kiss me. I nod and step into the shower. I sit on the shower bench and lean back against the wall as warm water rains down on me. I could sit like this forever. I have my eyes closed, but I hear them get into the shower.
“That’s one way to not drool,” Dominic laughs.
“Can’t be put under whatever spell you two cast if I don’t look at you,” I smile.
