He hands me the tacos next. “Are you feeling ok?” he asks, after swallowing a bite. I flash him a questioning look so he continues, “I was pretty rough, so…” He actually looks kind of embarrassed. It’s adorable.

“I liked it. I liked everything we did.”

“I want you to know that if it ever gets too much, you can just pinch me or say stop and I’ll stop immediately.” His voice drips sincerity. “Whatever we’re doing, your comfort is my priority.”

“I know.” I touch his cheek, and he brings my knuckles to his lips. I trust him with my body, a hundred percent.

His face transforms into a smile and we eat in comfortable silence. He’s done before I am, so he wipes his mouth with a napkin and turns toward me on the lounge. “So … the date.”

“Yeah?”

“I was thinking Saturday?”

“Oh, I have a thing on Saturday.” His face falls and I realize it probably sounds like I’m brushing him off. “It’s an actual thing. An award ceremony for authors. And I have to go because I’m nominated.”I fidget my fingers.

“You’re nominated?”

“Yeah.” Suddenly, I feel insecure. Like my silly little books and silly little awards are, well … silly.

“Fuck, Sadie. That’s amazing. I’m so proud of you.” His hand wraps around my neck and connects our lips. The kiss is sweet and short before he presses his forehead on mine. “I get that it’s probably not the best idea for a first date and that you maybe don’t want to introduce me to your colleagues, but I would be honored to stand next to you.”

“Ok,” I say, my voice shaky.

“Really?”

“Uh-huh.”

With a genuine smile, he kisses me again. His lips are soft and addicting as they travel over mine in a slow exploration.

My phone alarm buzzes, and I groan.

“Do you need to get that?” he says into my mouth, not moving his lips from mine.

“It’s my alarm. I set it so I don’t get caught up in writing and forget to pick my kids up from school.”

“Good thinking.”

“That means I should get going.”

Now, he’s the one to groan. “Fine. I’ll let you go. This time.”

I like this. This playful, flirty banter. With charged tension. And mind-blowing sex.

“Are you heading out as well?” I ask him.

“If you don’t mind, I’d like to stay longer. Someone so rudely distracted me from my job. And my boss is a real piece of work.” He winks.

I roll my eyes, but my mouth is grinning. Liv will be ecstatic. “Sure. You can take a shower if you’d like.”

“Maybe I will.”

I jump up to my feet, collecting my clothes when I remember I’m wearing his shirt. “Oh, I should probably return this.”

“No worries, I have extras in my van.”

I shoot him a smile and head toward the house to get dressedand try to look presentable. My panties are soaked with his cum, and I kind of love the feeling. It makes me feel dirty and sexy, and so fucking wanted. Something I haven’t felt in years, if ever.
