Lucifer stroked my chest, fingers tender as catkins.“Go to sleep, Nelly.”His voice was more force than words, more felt than heard.

I didn’t obey him, I merely made the executive decision to rest my eyes until my head felt better, that was what happened. That wasexactlywhat happened.

Iwokeuptothe realization that sometime during the previous night, a zombie had come in my mouth. While that had happened, some many-legged insect had laid its eggs in my ear.The eggs had hatched, and tiny baby insects had burrowed into my brain, which they had then tenderized with all their many legs so they could gnaw on it.On top of that, someone had marinated my eyeballs in vinegar.

“Aaah,” I said, meaninghelp me, turn off the light, please have mercy, and, sweet death, take me now.

Oh, champagne, you cruel mistress.I wasn’t hungover enough to miss the small fact that I was wrapped in sheets with a ridiculously high thread count and soft pillows under my head though, right in the center of Lucifer’s bed.

While it was too bright in the room for me, given the state I was in, I noticed that someone had made sure the drapes were drawn, bathing the room in a dark amber glow.I forced my head to turn.A tall glass of water sat on the nightstand within easy reach.

Things would’ve been a lot better if I’d forgotten everything that had happened last night, but sadly, I remembered it all, even the return of the Jade Dragon Fins.I contemplated all of it as I tried to adjust to the pain.

The only blessing in this hangover hell was that I was alone.I had to get out of bed.I had to leave.

After summoning all my focus, I managed to move into an upright position.Taking a shallow breath so as not to upset my stomach, I reached for the glass and drank it down.It was water, but there was something else in it.Maybe ginger again, not that my tastebuds were in working order.Whatever it was, water had never tasted better.

The bathroom was the next logical destination, and I managed to get there without incident, even if it took me a couple of minutes of gingerly setting one foot in front of the other.

Once I was done with my business, I dared a look at myself in the mirror, and fuck, that was not pretty.I’d reanimated dead gutter rats that had looked better.

A plastic-wrapped toothbrush had been laid out by the sink.I picked it up, thought about contemplating the deeper meaning behind it, then decided it was just a toothbrush, and I wasn’t going to look a gift horse in the mouth or live with the state of my mouth any longer.I tore off the wrapper, put too much toothpaste on the soft bristles, and worked away at the taste of zombie cum.

I brushed twice. It helped some. After I washed my face, I had to confront the fact that that scrawny-ass necromancer staring back at me from the mirror was the best I was going to get today, and it would do to get me out of this house and far, far away from the Devil, his angel, and the Dragon Mother.

“Operation Amnesia two-point-oh,” I told my mirror image.I blinked at myself.“Unless…”

I recalled that strange thought I’d had last night. While…in bed. With the Devil. To get him out of my system, I just have to…

Yes, I had to gothroughLucifer, throughthat silly spell of attraction he’d put on me.And it had to be a spell, because he really wasn’t all that hot.How else was I getting hard around him while drunk? There was no other explanation but magic for that.Especially considering his little boyfriend spiel, which was annoying, and I was mad about it.

Fucking my way through was the new plan then. Not a particularly good one, I had to admit, but a plan all the same.

“It’s past noon.I was beginning to think I’d have to kiss you awake, Sleeping Nelly.”

I turned, and Lucifer stood there, the amber light like a cloak around him, shining and shimmering on his baby cat hair and giving it a powder-soft halo.He radiated cockiness like a corpse flower radiates eau du cadaver.I grabbed the sink to help steady myself in my hungover state.

“I don’t need you to kiss me.”My voice had no bite to it, and I hated that. But I had a plan, and I needed the plan to work.“So what now?Are you going to fuck me or what?”I looked away from him at the sink, searching for any spots or imperfections. There were none.Metatron did a great job keeping house.

“Say that again, Nelly.”Lucifer had once more walked right up to me—snuckup to me—and now stood so close I could feel his body heat.

I shrugged.“You can just go ahead.”Of course my cock gave a thumbs-up right then and there. The small betrayals of the body.

Lucifer’s hands came up, and he grabbed me by the hips.“Ah, what I wouldn’t give to know what’s in that pretty head of yours, Nelly.”

He bent forward, and fuck him, but he was licking my neck, and before I knew what I was doing, I moaned at the contact. His left hand slithered upward, reaching for a nipple, and in an attempt to get away from his fingers, I pushed myself away from the sink counter, which only served to push me up against his chest. The smell of him was everywhere.Fire.The promise of darkness, rich with spices. His hand found my nipple. The touch reverberated downward through my body, and I felt precum leak from my tip as I squirmed.

Lucifer pulled his mouth back from my neck and wrapped me in his arms.“I know exactly what I’ll do with you, Nelly.”He dragged me along with him back to the bed.

Okay, so this was happening. The Devil was going to fuck me.I was potentially going to enjoy it, maybe even a lot.I was still hungover, and people did all kinds of things when they were hungover.Stupid things.I’d get through the hangover and this stupid thing, and it being good would just be an added bonus.

And then, finally, I’d be able to forget about Lucifer.

I hadn’t really thought about it, but he’d forget about me once he’d had me too. After all, Lucifer was Lucifer. He was hot, kinda. Not super hot, but hot-ish.He could have whoever he chose, and I’d just seen myself in the mirror.I wouldn’t want me right now.
