"Why is it all so important to you?" I asked sleepily.

"What?"

"You always want me to beg."

Noah stroked a hand along my spine and hummed. "I don't know. I never thought about it."

"You've never thought about why you like to have sex the way you do?"

He shrugged. "It's just sex. I do it to get off."

I sat up in his arms. "There has to be more to it."

He cracked a small smile and pushed strands of hair away from my face. "Always trying to psychoanalyze me."

"I just want to understand you."

Noah went quiet for a moment. "I suppose… I like knowing that, in that moment, you need me more than you've ever needed anything. I want to be the only thing that can satisfy you. I want you dying for it. I want to know you want it."

"Noah…" My heart melted a little. "Is your kink enthusiastic consent?"

He frowned. "Are you shitting me?"

"It it!" I grinned and placed a kiss on his nose. He immediately scrunched up his face in disgust. "You get off on enthusiastic consent. Noah Feminist Hart."

He grumbled. "Shout it to the world, why don't you?"

I just smiled and buried my head in his neck, enjoying his warm arms around me.

Chapter Twenty-Two

When Noah invitedme out to another concert, I knew he was expecting me to have a fangirl freak out.

"The band Feral Silence is also going to be performing with us." There was a smirk in his voice.

"Sounds cool," I said, keeping my attention focused on the sheet of music I was working on.

We'd thrown out the old song and begun working on a new one. That meant we were now weeks behind schedule. The band was going to want to see something concrete soon. I was beginning to panic, but Noah always reassured me we'd get it done on time. I hoped he was right. If we didn't manage to pull this off, I would have failed in my first and only job ever in the music industry.

"You're a Feral Silence fan right?" Noah asked, keeping his tone nonchalant.

"Yup."

I could see him frown out of the corner of my eye. "Aren't you excited?"

"Sure am," I said breezily, making a mark on the paper.

Noah looked nonplussed at my reaction. "I could introduce you," he offered.

"No need. I've already met them."

"Oh."

I finally looked up. His whole expression had turned disgruntled. I gave him a soft smile.

"Noah. Are you trying to do something nice for me?"

He looked away, brows furrowed.
