Feeling a little unsure of herself, she reached down and caressed his manhood through his shorts. It was already hard and now it throbbed gently beneath her palm.
“Angel,” he groaned, grabbing her hand and holding her still. “If you keep that up, I won’t be able to stop myself from having you.”
“Why do you want to stop yourself?” she asked.
“Because you don’t want to get married for a year and I don’t want you to have a baby outside of marriage. I won’t dishonor you that way.”
Ange didn’t quite know what to say. Even though sexual relations outside of marriage was accepted in her world, people were not dishonored because of it anymore. Disappointing to parents maybe, and you didn’t want to flaunt it in front of family, but not dishonorable. If she pressed the subject, would she seem like a tramp to him? She didn’t consider herself a tramp, although she’d kissed and fooled around some with several different men and even had one disappointing sexual encounter with Derek. Now that she’d found someone she wanted to spend the rest of her life with, she felt ready to commit her body. She cleared her throat.
“We do have birth control, you know,” she offered timidly, “if you’re just worried about a pregnancy.”
He glared fiercely down at her. “It isn’t just a pregnancy. I can’t treat you as a whore when you are a woman I wish to marry. There is a huge difference, or at least there was in my world. You are a lady, you are to be treated differently because of it.”
Ange was starting to get a little agitated. “Those first few days, you acted like you wanted to make love,” she argued. “Did you think me a whore then?”
“Of course not,” he snapped, his eyebrows going sky-high. “But there is a difference between precipitating upcoming nuptials and blatant disregard for laws and morals. It’s you who insist on a year. A child could be born during that time frame.”
Ange bit her lip. The problem was, she couldn’t disagree with him, yet he clearly didn’t understand their society. She really needed to think this through some more before continuing this conversation. Lucky for her, Hercules chose that moment to grace them with his presence.
Chapter 8
“Aren’t you two thecute little lovebirds,” Hercules taunted with a huge grin.
Achilles grinned back, although at the moment, he felt like spanking Angel’s little bottom for thinking so little of herself. “What are you doing here, my friend?”
Hercules leaned against the pillar on the deck. “I’m afraid I have some bad news,” he said. He folded his long arms and studied them for a moment.
Achilles rolled his eyes. “How much worse can it get? Is Epaphras up to something again?”
Do you men want some privacy?” Ange asked, starting to get up.
Hercules shook his head “No, you need to hear it too.”
Achilles frowned then. “Well, what is it?”
“Zeus is on the warpath again. Apparently, Poseidon and Epaphras both have been spreading the news of you and Angel all over Olympus. People are mad and threatening to ignore Zeus’s decrees regarding earth. He had to make a decision he didn’t want to make, a sacrifice as he put it.”
