I was about to fall onto someone’s lobster dinner thanks to being blinded by the aquarium and constantly losing my footing.

Something wrapped around my waist, and I was jerked backward. I yipped, frantically trying to free myself from the hand wrapped around my stomach. A familiar, deep rolling chuckle sounded in my ear. I blinked, turning to look to see who the fuck was holding onto me.

Jinx stared into my eyes. I was so close to him in this position that I could see the little flecks of gold and blue in his eyes.

A throat cleared in the chaos of the restaurant chatter, making me blink, breaking the spell, and bringing a flush to my cheeks. I wiggled out of his grip and found my seat across from him.

The man sitting beside me was very alternative-looking. He had tattoos covering his body, just like Jinx. His black hair hung in his face, and that delicious ‘emo-boy style’ was enticing.

Maybe this double date wouldn’t be so bad after all.

My sister looked less than pleased with me. I signed to her my apologies.

Okay…so that’s how tonight is going to go?

Just enjoy the date you stood up, Mare.

She looked away, effectively ignoring me. I couldn’t remember the dude’s name, and Jinx looked at me with a smirk as I racked my brain for what it was.

“Nice to meet you…Tr-Trag.”

The man’s smile fell a little, and Jinx burst out laughing like the asshole he was.

“Trag is a real trap with the ladies, aren’t you, bro?”

I ignored the infuriating asshat in front of me and turned toward the guy.

“I am so sorry. I am awful with names. I am so happy to meet you.”

His smile returned. “No worries, girl. I am honored to have ya on the date. I am a bit shy, but you’re stunning.”

I smiled and tried to ignore Jinx’s intrigue in our conversation. Gianna was running her hands all over his chest, and I prickled, a shitty feeling slamming into my gut.

“You are, uh, real handsome,” I said to Trapp, pulling his face toward me and planting a kiss on his lips.

The man froze beneath me, but I deepened the kiss. I could feel Jinx’s eyes, and I let that fuel my fire into the kiss. Trapp kissed me back for a moment, but then gently pushed me away.

“Wow, that was um…something.”

Gianna’s face was comical.

“Yes, something inappropriate in such an established restaurant, don’t you think, Mare?”

I blushed and bit my lip. Jinx followed the motion of my tongue as it slid over my lips. His lids lowered, and my blush felt like it crept deeper into my skin, spreading to my neck and chest.

God, he was awful.

“Right. Sorry,” I mumbled under my breath.

Jinx grabbed Gianna’s pointy, perfect fingertips, pulling her hand onto his lap, his eyes never diverting from me.

“Don’t be so hard on her, baby girl. Places like these need some excitement.”

Gianna blushed and looked away quickly.

Trapp awkwardly cleared his throat, and I tried not to break my teeth from clenching down so hard. I had no right to feel jealous, but here I was wanting to break my sister’s perfect manicured nails and stick them in her eyeballs.

Beautiful nails, sister. Why not keep them on the damn table for everyone to see?
