“Cheers, Angie, thanks for this. Ready for another big week?”

I take a sip of my tea and sit down at my desk.

“Yeah, hopefully it’s a busy one. Christmas holidays are so close. I’m looking forward to some time off.”

“Me, too, I’ll see you later on, okay?”

I nod at him while taking another sip. “Sure thing.”

Just as I fire up my computer Jenny knocks on my door.

“Are you ready for our catch-up, Ange?”

“Yep, come on in, I’m just waiting for my computer to wake up. How was your weekend, Jenny?”

I know this question would give me several minutes’ reprieve.

“Ooh it was good. Ben and I just decorated the house a little bit. We are still unpacking some of my boxes. It’s good now, the house is starting to get a feminine touch. You know how single men don’t have a clue about interior design” she laughs at her own joke. I pretend to laugh with her. “How was your weekend? How was New York?”

This is what I didn’t want. Jenny is a lovely person, someone who I consider a friend and yet I don’t want to tell her anything about the weekend, nothing personal anyway, just in case it doesn’t work with Elliot.

“It was good, thanks, Jen. I caught up with a friend, nothing much, just hung out at their place mainly.”

I was pleased with my description of the weekend, the complete truth minus details, of course.

Jenny seemed happy enough with my description of the weekend, she didn’t press any further about details anyway. I was thankful for that.

“So on Friday afternoon one of your clients cancelled their three showings. They had an offer accepted on another property, so that frees up your schedule for today”

Darn it, that was going to make today go slower. At least when I’m out and about with clients showing properties, the time just seems to fly by. I would need to dive into something else that required my undivided attention. Contracts. I would look over contracts.

“Okay then. Well since I’ve now got some free time, can you please print me up a copy of the contract for each of the properties that are currently on my books. I want to go over each of them. I want to see if there is anything I can do to sweeten the deal for some purchases, get some more properties sold before Christmas break.”

Jenny’s eyebrow rises over her right eye. She knows this is something I do when I need to be busy.

“Ah, sure. I’ll get them to you this morning. Are you okay? You only look through contracts when you are worried about something.”

“Yeah. Jenny I’m fine. I just want to make sure there isn’t anything hiding in the fine print that could cause anyone to back out.” Luckily, Jenny accepts this.

“You’re such a good agent Angie. I’ll go get onto them now for you, unless there is anything else you need from me?”

I shake my head “I’m okay for now, Jen. Thanks.

Jenny walks out of the office, closing my door behind her. I get straight onto the paperwork for the Thompson family. I want this contract to go through before Christmas. After sending it off to their lawyer, I check my emails. Nothing of importance, spam mostly, advertising some other companies and products they have to offer to help agents sell properties. One email catches my eye. An email from Sandra:
