Jett nods. “I typically don’t go to nightclubs. I’m a homebody when my best friend, Arely, doesn’t force me out and about.”

Orpheus and I both chuckle at her admission.

“Bet that will change as you spend your time with my brother here,” Orpheus tells her. “He does help manage this place, among other things.”

“I do enjoy having you with me,” I tell her, pulling her tighter to my side as I look down to meet her gaze, noticing the way her cheeks blush. Dipping my head down, I give her a chaste kiss.Lifting my head, I turn my attention back to Orpheus. “Will you be able to handle the club tonight without me?”

“Of course, I can.” He smirks and rolls his eyes. “I do know how to do things without your help. Go.” He waves his hand dismissively. “Enjoy your new mating.” He stares at me, letting me know what he leaves unspoken. Finish what you started before it’s too late.

I give him a nod and slide out of the booth. I help Jett as she looks toward Orpheus.

“It was nice to meet you.”

“You as well.” Orpheus smiles, not the typical one he uses, but a genuine one he uses for the times someone comes to mean something to him. It’s not often he uses it. Usually, the king of vampires is cold-hearted, and a complete bastard to those around him.

Nodding to him, I guide Jett back out the way we came. Ryn opens the door for us, and I help her in the car. Now that I’ve reported to Orpheus, I can take Jett and do what I really want to do.

Devour her as she deserves.

First things first, she needs to eat, and I need to see that she does so.

“Would you like to go out again, or should we order in?” I ask, giving her the option to choose.

“I can cook,” she says instead.

“Another time, we shall cook together,” I tell her, reaching for her hand and bringing it to my lips. “Tonight isn’t for that.” I press another kiss to her hand. “I wish for us to spend the rest of the night unbothered by those around.”

“Will you be explaining to me about what it is I wish to know?”

Damn it all to hell.

“Whatever you ask of me, I’ll tell you.”

“Let’s order in then,” she whispers breathily.

My body reacts to her words more because of how she said them. My fangs ache to sink into her flesh again. Her blood had been the sweetest thing I ever tasted. It ran right alongside, tying with the taste between her thighs. I couldn’t pick which one was better than the other. Both were heaven to me.

I hold her hand until we get to her house, where I pull in the driveway. Only then do I let her go, but I do so in order to get out and round the hood of my car. Before she’s able to get out, I’m there to help her. Not that she needs it. I simply can’t stand the thought of being far from her for long.

Thought is pathetic to my ears, but it’s true all the same. Since meeting her for the first time, she’s become far too important to me. If something were to happen to her, hell will rain down on all involved.

Together, Jett and I walk up to her porch. I wait for her to unlock the door before stepping in right behind her as she reaches to flip on a lamp. I go to stop her feeling the presence of someone in the home, but it’s too late. The light comes on, and Jett gasps at the sight of the person in her home.

“Daddy,” she whispers.

Fuck me.

Apollo was here.

Sitting and lounging on her couch.

“My beautiful daughter,” he says, coming to his feet, his arms out to greet Jett.

“What are you doing here?” Jett asks, moving to hug the God like it was any other day, whereas he’d not allow this to be happening for anyone else.

“There’s much to talk about,Fengaráki mou,” Apollo remarks, his voice firm yet gentle. His gaze came to me. “You are my daughter’s other half, yet you haven’t finished what was started. Why?”

“Daddy.” Jett sighs, shaking her head, stepping back so she’s by my side. “That isn’t any of your business.”
