Confusion crossed his face. “Should there be more?”

“By the way you were acting, I was half-convinced you’d gotten sick of me after all and were about to break my heart.” My voice cracked on the last word. I lightly thumped my fist against his chest, inwardly cursing the stinging in my eyes. “You asshole.”

“I break beds, not hearts.” Bellamy tipped my chin up and held it there so I couldn’t look away. “And I’d sooner tear my own heart from my chest than ever do anything to hurt yours.”

“If you tore out your heart, we’d both die, so that would defeat the purpose.” My witticism failed to meet the mark. My voice was still too shaky.

A low whine climbed up his throat as he tugged me closer and buried his face against my neck. More whines followed, deep and raspy. It wasn’t Bellamy in that moment.

It was Lust.

“Don’t ever doubt me,” he said. His voice had two layers, one that sounded like my Bellamy and a deeper one I knew to be his sin. “I want to build a life with you, Nix. I want to find a place to call home and spend eternity with you in my arms.”

“I want that too.” I slid my arms around him and petted his wings. They folded more around me. “I lived in the underworld most of my life, but it never felt like home. I existed there. But I only started living once I found you. You became my home.”

“There you go again.” I felt him smile against my neck. “I see your villain card slipping farther and farther away.”

“Flame-roasted Nephilim sounds like a delicious midnight snack. What do you think?”

He laughed. The sound sank into my chest, chasing away the former ache. “We can live anywhere. The world is our playground.”

“Well, wehavefucked all over the globe, yes. Certainly a playground for our carnal desires.”

Another laugh. He withdrew his wings and rolled to his back on the bed, his sated cock on full display between his legs. A truly mouthwatering sight. He put one arm behind his head and slid the other beneath me to tug me to his side.

“Where doyouwant to live?” I asked, cuddling into his chest.

“Honestly?” Bellamy stared at the ceiling, his hand roaming along the curve of my bare hip. “My brothers and I have lived in countless places throughout our long lives. But there’s something magical about the sleepy seaside town of Echo Bay.”

I smiled. I wasn’t sure why. Had I been subconsciously hoping we’d end up back there? “We have many memories in Echo Bay.”

Not all of them were happy. Some caused guilt to stir in my chest, like when I’d led a small force to attack their mansion in order to retrieve the ring with Asa’s soul. Or when Asa and Belphegor attacked and set fire to the mansion, resulting in Bellamy forcing me to leave his side. But it was also the place I’d learned what it was like to have a family, not only with Bellamy but also with his brothers and their mates.

“We’ll make many more,” Bellamy murmured, touching my collar as his expression became tender. Silver threaded through his dark blue eyes, like stars in a night sky. “This life with you has already been one hell of a ride.”

“Think you can handle more?”

He smiled and closed the gap between our mouths, kissing me softly. An answer to my question. We’d always been better about speaking with our bodies rather than with words. Lips could tell a thousand lies, but the truth was reflected in his toe-curling kisses. I felt the truth in his heart that beat to the same quick rhythm as mine.

I’d been a fool to ever doubt him. Bellamy loved me with a fire of a thousand suns, and I’d use that fire to destroy the world before ever letting anyone take him from me. I was twisted, but he curved around me perfectly.

“I’ll call Alastair in the morning,” he said, caressing my cheek. “Konnar showed him a lot of houses for sale in the past, so I’m sure he can help us find a place. We can live there temporarily while we build a house of our own.”

“Somewhere by the sea?” So many times, I’d caught Bellamy staring at the water. The sea calmed something in him. “That way, when I set you on fire, you can jump in and snuff out the flames.”

A raspy chuckle left him. “You talk a lot of shit for someone who never backs it up.”

I held up my hand, palm twitching. “I can have a fireball summoned in one second flat. Don’t test me.”

“Yeah?” He leaned in, his breath warm on my lips. “Maybe I want to feel the lick of your flames.”

“I have a better use for it,” I said, inwardly cursing his beauty. He turned my brain to mush when he did shit like that.

I slipped out of bed, feeling his eyes on my naked body as I approached the fireplace in the corner of the room and knelt down. Wood was stacked beside it, and I added a few logs before touching the wood and setting it ablaze. Perks of being a demon.

When I returned to bed, Bellamy tugged me on top of him and rejoined our lips.

Outside, a winter wind swept through the trees, making the branches groan. But inside our room, a soothing fire crackled as we kissed. The taste of him fanned the embers deep in my core, and soon, I was burning, fueled by lust and love.
