I would choose him first. Always.
“Marry me,” I whispered against his lips.
Kyo went still beneath me, shock flickering across his features.
It wasn’t until the words spilled from my lips that I realized how badly I wanted to not only join our souls in the mating ritual, but to marry him. I wanted the whole shebang: dressing to the nines for a lavish ceremony, the people we loved in attendance, and rings to symbolize our union. I wanted it all.
“I’m selfish. I’m greedy. I am a goddamn mess at times. I’m an adrenaline junkie who loves to race fast cars and gamble, and I have a major weakness for shiny, expensive things. I’m no Prince Charming. I’m lewd, uncouth, and I piss off pretty much everyone I meet.” I breathed out a somewhat nervous laugh. “Fuck, I’m not really a catch at all. You can do so much better than me. There’s also a war going on right now, and this probably isn’t the best time to say any of this shit. Despite all that, I fucking love you, Kyo. And I want to spend the rest of my life, however long that might be, beside you. Loving you. Getting on your nerves. I—”
Kyo grabbed my face and kissed me. “Shut up, Red. You talk too much.” That’s when I noticed his eyes were glistening. “You really do suck with flowery words. Honestly, you’re the worst.” He cracked a smile before resting his forehead against mine. “But I wouldn’t want you any other way. Forever is a long time, but I can’t imagine spending it with anyone else.”
The base of my throat squeezed. “Is that a yes?”
“Yes.” Kyo sucked my earlobe into his mouth and flicked my silver stud with his tongue. He licked the shell of my ear and spread his legs. We’d just blown our loads, but his cock filled, causing mine to do the same when he began a slow grind on me. “I want to marry you. But first, I want to fuck you again.”
I chuckled. “Needy little dragon.”
“Only with you.”
I pushed my face into the crease of his neck. “Are you sure about that? You and Warrin seem kinda close.”
“Hey.” Kyo tipped my chin up and made me look at him. His orange eyes searched mine. “I swear nothing happened between me and him. All I thought about the entire time was getting back to you.”
“He didn’t make a move on you?”
“Nope.” Kyo smoothed his thumb across my bottom lip. “Besides, Warrin doesn’t care about that kind of stuff. I spent a whole week with him traveling to Russia, then came here, and I don’t think the guy even has desires. He’s emotionally detached and seems to only care about serving his kingdom.”
“So I don’t have to kill him?”
Kyo snorted and rolled me to my back. He straddled my waist and rubbed his ass against my erection. “What is it you always say to me? You’re cute when you’re jealous.”
“Yeah, yeah.” My hands skimmed up his back, and I paused when reaching the change of skin texture between his shoulder blades. The scar he’d gotten when he had saved me.
“I’d do it again,” he whispered, tracing the line of my collarbone with his fingertip. “Saving you is worth any price.”
I sat up and snaked my arms around his waist, joining our lips. I hoped my kiss said what I had trouble putting into words. That I loved him. That every piece of me belonged to him.
“My whole world is right here in my arms,”my father had once said as he held me and my mother.
That’s exactly how I felt as I held Kyo. Protecting him, loving him, meant more to me than anything else. He wasn’t just my world. He was the moon, the stars, and everything else in between.
Chapter Twenty
Kyo
“I think you’re choking the life out of me,” I said as Gray pounced on my back and secured his arms around my neck.
“You’re talking, so you can breathe too. Probably.” He laid his head on my shoulder and hooked his legs around my waist as I continued down the hall. He’d attacked me as soon as I left Castor’s bedroom. “This is your punishment for getting hurt. Being cuddled to death.”
Castor’s lips twitched with a smile as he walked beside us.
“No one asked you, Red.”
“I didn’t say anything.” That smile widened. “It’s a rite of passage though. You’re not a true part of the family until Gray has almost squeezed the life out of you.”
Gray giggled and cuddled more into me.
The scent of bacon, eggs, and something baking filled the air as we entered the kitchen. Raiden stood in front of the stove, an orange tee stretched over his broad shoulders, and when he turned to greet us, I saw he was wearing a black apron that said “Sausage anyone?” and it had an arrow pointing down.
