“Cas!” Raiden yelled from the dance floor. He squeezed through the cluster of swaying bodies, saying ‘excuse me’ over and over again before reaching me. “You gotta come with me.”
“Is someone dying?”
He looked puzzled. “No.”
“Then I’m going home.” I turned toward the exit.
“Believe me.” He grabbed me by the bicep. “You’re gonna want to see this.”
“All I want to see right now, Ray, is my bed. Good night.”
The sight of blue-frosted silver hair stopped me cold. At first, I thought I was seeing things, but it was definitely him. Mr. Ice Dickwad himself. He moved through the crowd toward the bar, towering over everyone apart from the werewolves. I had expected my blood to boil if I ever saw him again. Kind of fitting that it turned to ice instead.
“Why the fuck is he here?” I growled, stepping forward.
“Easy.” Raiden pushed against my chest. “Don’t lose your head and start throwing punches. You need to—”
But it was already too late. I shoved away from him and charged toward Warrin, murderous thoughts jabbing my mind. He was supposed to be on an island in Japan with Kyo. A lot of balls he had showing up here. Was it just to taunt me? His pale eyes flickered to me right before I reached him.
The ice in my veins spread to my lungs, freezing them solid. I had trouble taking a deep breath. My hand squeezed into a fist, and I geared up to knock his fucking lights out. But then a familiar scent tickled my nose. Water lilies in summertime.
Kyo stepped around Warrin and softly smiled. “Hey, Red.”
Not stopping to think about why or how he was even there, I crushed him to my chest, whimpering a bit as I pressed my face into his silky black hair. The reasons didn’t matter in that moment. Because he was finally back where he belonged, in my arms. Everything else be damned.
He held me just as tightly, feathering kisses across my cheek and brow. I glided the tip of my nose along his jaw before claiming his lips. He moaned and rested his hands on my lower back. My tongue swirled with his, and the small shudder that left him in response caused heat to shoot through me, melting the ice.
“Can we go somewhere to talk?” he asked against my mouth.
“Give me a second.” I kissed him again, then again, my fingers combing through his hair. I had missed the taste of him. Missed the smell of his skin and the softness of his lips. “I can’t believe you’re really here.”
Kyo tucked his head under my chin and snuggled into my chest. “We have Warrin to thank for it.”
I met the ice dragon’s eyes over the top of Kyo’s head. He averted his gaze to the floor.
“Let’s go to my private room,” I said, drawing back from Kyo. My hand slid into his, and our fingers linked. “We can talk there.”
“Seems like you found some company after all, sugar,” Jasper said with a wink. His tail was caressing a man’s thigh while a vampire fed from his wrist.
Kyo glowered at me. “You haven’t fucked him in your private little room lately, I hope.”
“Awe.” I pulled him closer. “I missed your jealousy. It’s so cute.”
He jabbed at my side.
“There’s been no one else. I swear. Stop hitting me.” I threw my arm around his shoulders. A part of me was still in disbelief that he was there.
Warrin and Raiden followed us around the dance floor and to the hall that led to the back rooms. Male faeries grinned at us as they stood in the doorway to one room, smoking. One exhaled the smoke my way, and I caught a hint of berries. Incense burned in the room and billowed out into the hallway, the smoke an aphrodisiac to anyone who inhaled it.
Raiden paused to wave at them. I rolled my eyes, grabbed him, and shoved him into my room. It had been a while since I’d been in there—not since we’d left for Greece—but the cleaning crew Konnar hired made sure to keep the place spotless and the sheets on the bed fresh.
Kyo eyed the bed before arching a brow at me, a knowing look in his orange eyes.
Was he remembering all the times we’d spent tangled together in the sheets? All the times I’d made him moan my name as I pounded him into the mattress?
Ah, damn.My cock filled at the flood of memories. It was the first spark of desire I’d had since before the battle. My libido had left right along with Kyo. But now it was back with a vengeance. It went deeper than sex though. My body longed to join with his, but my soul ached too.
“Have a seat,” I said, motioning to the table. Four chairs sat around it. I mainly used it for gambling, so there were stacks of cards and poker chips that I slid over to make room.
