Lorcan was the moon of my life; a beacon in a dark sky.

Guiding me out of the darkness.

Epilogue

Lorcan

Years later

“Theron! Not too close to the edge,” I exclaimed, running toward him.

We were taking an afternoon stroll around our cottage and he’d wandered too far to the cliff. Well, it was more like a hill, but I didn’t want him falling from one of those, either.

Alek snatched our son’s tiny hand and pulled him back. “Not so fast, little bird. Don’t want to give your father a heart attack, do you?”

Theron looked back at me with a toothy grin and shook his head, making his silver curls bounce.

“You are too much like your Da,” I said, pulling him into my arms.

“Dashingly handsome?” Alek winked.

I rolled my eyes and moved Theron to my other hip. He stuck out his tiny arm and waved it around.

“What are you tryin’ to grab, little bird?” Alek asked him.

Theron looked up at the sky, his green eyes big and full of wonder. He was nearly three but hadn’t started talking yet. Alek had been concerned, but then I’d reminded him that I hadn’t talked at that age, either.

Which made me think he had the same gift as me.

“The sun is low,” Alek said, placing his hand at my lower back. “Should we head home?”

“Just a moment longer,” I answered, looking at the blue water and admiring how the sun shone on the surface.

Green valleys were to the left and town was not much farther. We’d built our dream home in Emerald Cove; a quaint cottage by the sea. Kellan and Fletcher lived close by, so Alek saw them often. They hosted dinner sometimes and we did other times.

I stayed at home with Theron throughout the day while Alek went to work as the town physician. He enjoyed helping people and using his gifts for good. And he was damn good at it, too.

Malik had returned to Avalontis nearly a year before to help with the training of new recruits. It’d taken a lot of convincing, but I’d insisted that he start living his life. I didn’t want his days consisting of following me around and never experiencing the pleasures of the world. He visited us almost weekly, though, and would stay for at least a night or two.

I wanted him to find love again.

And I believed he would.

Reif had returned to Avalontis, too. We saw him on occasion, which I knew Alek appreciated. The two had formed a bond during their time together, and although neither had admitted it aloud, I knew they cared deeply for each other.

Theron wiggled in my arms.

“All right.” I chuckled and put him down.

He ran toward a patch of flowers where hummingbirds buzzed. He loved nature and was so curious about the world; pointing at the sky or giggling when he saw a rabbit hopping along the grass. Since he didn’t talk, he’d often point at things or tap our legs to get our attention. He giggled a lot and smiled even more.

It warmed my heart to know he was happy.

Alek grabbed my hand as we walked behind our son. “Seth will arrive on the morrow.”

“Theron will be happy to see him,” I said with a smile.

Seth had made contact with Alek a year ago, finding us through Malik. He’d cried when he learned we’d named our son after his brother. As Seth had cried, Theron had approached him and placed his small hand on Seth’s face, touching his tears before wiping them away. Seth had looked at him then, and the tears had stopped.
