“Wake up, darling. We’re here.” Rhett’s voice was low and sensuous.
My eyes popped open to find him staring at me. “Sorry. I fell asleep.” I was totally tired after an exhausting day.
When I’d arrived at Bonnie’s home after leaving the station, I was a bundle of chaotic energy, counting down the time until I’d see Rhett again. I took a shower, had a light meal with Bonnie, then waited for Rhett to come back from serving his justice—whatever that meant. Frankly, I didn’t want to know the details, but I had the sense that I wouldn’t be seeing Sam ever again.
With languid movements, I stretched. He traced a finger across my cheek.
“What?” I wiped my eyes. “Did I snore?”
“No.” He took my hand and turned it over so he could kiss my palm, the sensation making a beeline for my pussy. “You just look so sexy when you’re sleeping.”
He gently placed another kiss on my palm before licking it. His touch stabbed through me, and heat pooled between my legs.
I smiled impishly. “You do know that you have a 100 percent chance of me fucking you, right?”
He laughed huskily. “Yep. Time to get you inside.” He threw open his door and came over to open mine.
I clutched his hand, hopping out, and was stunned into silence by the sight of an absolutely breathtaking tree house, secluded by dense jungle.
“It’s amazing,” I whispered, admiring the massive tree house nestled on top of stilts in a canopy of flora.
“I’m happy you like it.” Releasing my hand, he pressed his palm to my lower back, ushering me over to the tree house’s grand entrance.
“What’s not to like? You get to fall asleep in the trees and wake up to birds singing around you,” I said.
We walked up the spiral staircase that was crafted around a giant tree. At the top, the house was unlike anything I’d ever seen. An outdoor deck area extended off the main entrance.
When he pushed open the door, I stepped in and gasped. There was no roughing it in this tree house. The common room had a spiral staircase, full kitchen, dishwasher, stove, and padded benches.
We both took off our shoes, and I walked over to the two living trees growing through the tree house’s interior. “Did you build this yourself?”
“Yes, with the help of my pack. Jasper helped me design it. He makes a fortune designing and building luxury tree houses.”
“Amazing.” I strode over to the sliding glass door, peering at the waterfall.
He walked up behind me, pressing his chest against my back. “No. You’re amazing.” He kissed my neck, and my body was instantly ablaze with lust.
I moaned with want. “That feels so good.”
“Nova, I want to claim you.”
Turning around, I stared up at him. “Then what’s stopping you?”
“Since you’ve come to this town, you’ve been through a lot. I don’t want to rush you, so if you need more time…”
I pressed my fingers against his lips. “Let’s get one thing straight. You’re not rushing me into shit. I want you. You’re mine, and I’m yours. So let’s get to the claiming, okay?”
