Jesus. Do they only make them tall, masculine, and gorgeous in this town?
I grabbed his hand. “Hello,” I replied.
His fingers lingered around mine a little longer than necessary.
“Emmett, you can let go of her hand now.” Rhett’s voice boomed from behind me.
Pulling my hand away, I turned around to see Rhett standing inside the shop with his muscles bunching inside his shirt. He was hot—well, hot and scary. He didn’t even smile. In fact, he was scowling at me, menace hovering over him like a dark cloud.
“What are you doing here?” I asked, tilting my head, boldly glaring at him.
Emmett arched a brow. “Good question.”
Rhett crossed his corded, muscular arms. “What are you talking about, Emmett? I always come here.”
“Not this time of day, you don’t,” Emmett argued, glaring at him.
“Bonnie? Emmett?” a female voice called out. “Where is everyone?” Imani rounded the corner. “Hey, Nova. Bonnie, Emmett.” She waved, then grinned at Rhett. “Hey, what are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be at the station?”
“Exactly,” Emmett said.
“I’m patrolling,” Rhett answered.
Imani stared at him. “Patrolling for what?”
“Never mind that,” Rhett said. “What are you doing here?”
“I saw Bonnie’s SUV outside,” Imani said. “And I was hoping Nova was with her so I could take her out to lunch.” She smiled at me. “Interested?”
“Sure,” I replied. “Let me get my luggage out of my SUV first.” Pulling out my car keys from my handbag, I pressed the fob, popping open the back.
“That’s a lot of luggage,” Imani commented, examining the contents of my trunk.
“Yep, it is,” I agreed. “I travel a lot for my job. I’m never in one place for more than a couple of months at most. Everything I own is in my SUV.”
Stepping into my space, Emmett offered, “Let me get your luggage for you.”
I gave him a slight smile. “Thank you, but—”
“I got it,” Rhett declared, nudging Emmett aside.
Emmett and Rhett rushed to grab the same piece of luggage. “Let go,” they hissed in unison.
“This is better than reality television,” Bonnie mused, watching as the two men tussled over my luggage.
Rhett finally managed to tug my baggage away from Emmett. “Piss off,” he growled.
Seeing enough of their ridiculous battle over my luggage, I flung out my arms, pushing them apart. “Hey, there’s enough luggage for both of you.”
“This is between us,” Emmett fumed, gently edging me aside.
I threw my arms in the air. “Whatever.”
My eyes widened as they started pulling out my baggage in some weird race to see who could take out the most luggage the fastest.
Imani shook her head. “It’s a shifter standoff.”
Bonnie laughed. “I guess they’re showing Nova’s luggage who’s boss.”
