It seemed as if Sam took offense to her comment and snapped his teeth at her like a wild, drooling animal. Gertrude squealed and leaped back.
She clutched her pearls. “Why, I never.”
Sam’s laugh was maniacal. “Oh, shut it, you dried-up piece of trash.”
“His eyes are red.” Shane pointed out. “And he’s foaming at the mouth. I ain’t never seen nothing like this.”
“He’s got the feral sickness!” Weasel shouted.
Piper stared at Sam with lips pursed in disbelief. “I didn’t think Sam could get any crazier. I was wrong.”
Sam wiggled his body like he was trying to escape even with the firm grip Jasper and I had on him.
“Hold still, you hear?” I ordered.
“If you take these handcuffs off me,” Sam exploded, “I’ll rip you to shreds like I did to Dean, his kin, and Henry.”
Sam’s confession silenced the crowd. Their expressions were stunned. Now the Ridge had no excuse to keep Nova in jail. Her innocence was clear.
Sam continued. “I’m the king. Bow to the king. You hear me?”
Bonnie yelled out, “All I hear is blah, blah, blah, I’m a crazy man.”
The horde nodded in agreement.
“You all heard Sam’s confession,” Quinn shouted to the audience. “Sam killed Dean, his kin, and Henry. And according to Others law, justice must be served swiftly to Sam.”
There was a sea of nodding heads before they started chanting, “Justice. Justice. Justice.”
“Bow to the king,” Sam kept repeating while Jasper and I dragged his ass into the station. We continued to the back to throw him into a cell.
Nova stood there in her open cell with wide eyes.
“Half-breeds like you shouldn’t be allowed to live,” Sam shouted at Nova. “I should have killed you when I had the chance, but I am the king, and you were the pawn in my game.”
“Apparently you lost,” Nova said coolly. “Checkmate.”
We threw him in the adjacent cell, locking it before Nova stepped out of hers and into my arms.
I kissed her quickly before ushering her to the front of the station.
“Since I’m free to go, what’s going to happen now?” Nova asked me.
“Don’t worry yourself about him,” I replied. “Black Forest justice will be served. Bonnie will take you home, and I’ll be over later to claim my woman.”
“I’m your woman.” She grinned. “I love the sound of that.”
After I escorted her out of the station, Bonnie, June, Piper, Imani, Nyx, Isabella, Izzy, Rose, and the rest of her supporters surrounded Nova.
I glared at the crowd. “Y’all got anything to say to Nova?”
“I knew it,” the weasel said. “I knew she couldn’t have done no shit like killing Henry.”
Imani rolled her eyes. “Weasel, pick a damn side and stick with it.”
“Exactly,” Piper agreed. “You told everybody that Nova was guilty.”
Weasel shook his head. “Not me.”
