CHAPTER 16
Olivia
ELI MOVED ON TOPof me, his face just inches from mine. A breath breezed over my neck and shoulders before his mouth lowered to meet mine. I opened my lips, my tongue wanting to tangle with his, to taste his sweetness, a mix of honey and dominant masculinity.
He moaned into my mouth, a muffled cry of desire, and I shuddered at the delicious sound of his need for me. His broad chest lowered against me until I thought I’d suffocate from the weight of him, but he kept me secured in his embrace, his hands reaching out to pin my wrists to the bed.
“You’re all mine,” he growled into my ear. His teeth nipped the sensitive ridge of my lobe. “All mine.”
With that, he slid his cock deep inside me with one rough push, and I cried out as he filled me.
“Eli!”
He groaned, seeming buoyed at the sound of his name on my lips, and he pushed harder, his cock buried deep inside my tight, aching pussy.
“Fuck me, Liv,” he whispered, his eyes gleaming with intense heat, locked on my face.
I gyrated my hips in a slow motion, taking in everything he gave and giving it back.
“That’s my girl. Yeah, that feels amazing.”
I wanted the moment to last forever, but I was close. Too close to continue crawling along the edge of glory. I sensed myself getting lost in his eyes, and in that moment, the world stopped turning. All that mattered was the unshakable connection I felt when I forgot all the reasons Eli was no good for me. I saw my future. An eternity of blissful happiness. A world in which Eli brought me more joy than I had ever felt in my entire life.
The father of my children.
My mind raced as a series of images flew through my head, unstoppable, uncontrollable. I shut my eyes, trying hard to hold on to the distance I had worked so hard to maintain between us. That last wall, the one that protected my heart, came tumbling down, crashing into a million pieces, and as Eli lowered his mouth to mine once more, I realized I had never stopped loving him. I never, ever would.
Eli is mine . . . forever.
“Eli.” It was the last word that spilled from my lips as I climaxed harder than I’d ever thought possible. My back arched, my head lifting from the pillow as my mouth reached out to his. “Eli.” It was the call to the man who was always fated to be mine. He was the long-lost best friend, the missing piece in the puzzle of my life.
“I’m coming,” he hissed, his eyes heavy-lidded, his teeth biting down on his bottom lip. He had never looked so sexy, so powerful, yet so helpless in his desperate need for release.
He came, and I came along with him, pleasure burning in me like a warm, steady glow that was slow to fade.
“Shit, Liv.” Exhausted, his body collapsed in a heap alongside mine. “Damn, that’s a great way to wake up,” he breathed, pulling me back up against his chest again.
“You’re telling me,” I replied, smiling, as I ran my fingers over his chest absently. I pressed a kiss to his nipple, sending another ripple of pleasure through him, and then I looked up at him through my lashes. “We’ve never really made love like this before, have we?”
“No.” He held me tighter.
I mused, remembering how our trysts had been in the past. In the back of his car, in a closet, maybe once in a real bed. Wherever we could catch a stolen moment with each other.
“We were always skulking about, trying to hide what we were doing from everyone,” he said with a little laugh. “I’m glad we don’t have to do that anymore.”
Though that wasn’t really true. We were still technically hiding from everyone, trying to stay under the radar. But neither of us spoke of the elephant in the room, instead focusing on enjoying our moment of peace while it lasted.
Eventually, we got up and showered, which led to another round of sex. Sometime around noon, we finally made it down to the kitchen for some food.
“I’m going into town today,” he said around a mouthful of toast as I fried up some eggs in a skillet. “I have to check the post office box and pick up some kerosene. You want to come along?”
I slid the fried eggs onto a platter and set them down in the middle of the table. Then I reached for a piece of toast and started slathering butter onto it. “No, I think I want to do some work in the studio today,” I said. “I’ve got a special painting I’m trying to finish,” I ended with a secretive smile.
“Oh?” He arched an eyebrow, suddenly interested. “Of what?”
“That’s for me to know and you to wonder about.” I finished my toast and eggs, and then I cleared away my plate. “Have a good trip, Eli,” I said, leaning down to kiss him on the cheek.
