My eyes meet his. He was a hard dude, but I respected the way he did things. He didn’t sugarcoat it, he knew lives might be lost and he was up for the challenge. I looked around him at the others in the garage; they all had the same focus. The ladies in the group held the same serious hard look, determined to bring Grace and Cason back or die trying.
I reached out and shook his hand.
He patted me on the shoulder and walked back to the garage.
Justice held her ground. Her hands were planted firmly on her hips.
“This is Anna. ” She stepped to the side. “President of the Lady Guardians, Jersey City chapter.”
I heard Grace mention her. She looked me up and down. She didn’t bother to hide the disgust. She wasn’t a fan of mine.
I held my hand out. Justice took it. She nodded at Anna and she shook my hand, too.
“Only reason I agreed to bring you in is because you know what we’re dealing with and you know the layout of the place.”
I nodded.
“If anything happens to her . . .” She let the sentence end there. No further explanation or specifics.
It was like we all had an unwritten rule to put our difference aside to get the job done and deal with the rest of it later.
It's reminded me of how a biker family should work.
Her eyes dropped a few inches below my waist before she turned back and headed to the garage.
My balls drew up a little at the implied threat.
I followed them into the garage.

The plan wasfor Red and Joey to head back to the compound to get a better idea of what we were dealing with. It wouldn't raise suspicion for them to be at the compound at the late hour.
We sat back a few blocks away and waited for them to report back in.
Red sent me a text. A couple of prospects, a few of the old guard were chilling in the lounge and anyone else on the premises was holed up in my dad’s office.
The office that lead to the tunnels and the rooms.
I had no doubt that’s where they were holding Grace.
Much to my relief, Cason was nowhere around.
I sent YoYo over to the house.
It was being guarded by two club members, he waited on our signal to take them out.
Didn’t want them alerting the compound something was up.
If Greta was in on it, he would deal with her, too.
“You ready for this?” Derrick said.
I kept him close to me. I wasn’t going to take my eyes off of him. He was the wild card, I was pretty sure when this was over, I was going to end his life, but I wanted to hear him out, first. I needed to know there was a reason for all of it.
“Yes.” I turned to face him.
He held his hands up.
