GRACE

Ididn’t want to get into it, to rehash old business.

He had to leave back then.

I had to leave when I did.

It was meaningless now.

We had traveled a long way, but the most important thing was how we felt about each other.

It hadn’t changed.

“Hey.” I spoke first.

Mase placed his hand on my back. He tugged on my chain, it was a lariat wrapped around my neck. It got tighter as he pulled it.

“What?” He leaned toward me.

“Kiss me.” I said.

He placed his lips on mine and pulled back. He licked his lips and placed them on mine, again.

A low moan escaped my lips.

He yanked on the chain.

It lifted my chin.

He deepened the kiss, pressing his firm tongue between my lips and exploring my mouth.

I heard a voice at the table next to us groan. I pulled back, but Mase wasn’t done. He held the back of my head and continued to kiss me.

I forgot about everything around me and lived in the kiss. It was safe and warm. It left me with no doubts or fears. It was pure Mase and I. We were beautiful together.

He released my lips and leaned back. His body curved around shielding the world from us.

He studied me with an intensity that bordered on obsession. He wanted me right now.

“I thought you were hungry.” I whispered.

“Can I share the specials with you?” the waiter popped up in front of us hoping to interrupt our make out session before it got too graphic.

“Let’s eat.” I said.

He nodded and turned back to the waiter.

He went over the specials with us but I didn't hear a thing. I couldn’t think of anything else but the feel of Mase’s hand on me.

He ordered for both of us. A steak and four different side dishes.

My mouth watered as the food selection flowed from his tongue.

He also ordered a bottle of wine, a perfect vintage according to the waiter. It was good to see that the refined side of Mase hadn’t been completely destroyed by all the mess he’d been through.

“How’s Cason?” he asked.
