“Well, you need to trust us.” Dana said.
“I do trust you, I don’t trust them.” I leaned up while the bald guy put a pillow behind my head. “I don’t want to put your club in danger, but if they know I’m alive, they will come after me.”
“Why?”
“Papa Scott was the one who ordered me to be killed.”
“Why would he do that sweetheart?” Isis asked.
“I think because he knows I know he had his son killed."
The entire group took a collective gasp. It was like the perfect moment in a movie where you did not see the plot twist coming at all.
“The night Mattie died. He came to me and said Papa Scott had ordered him to kill the son of the Vipers President.” I bit my lip to keep the tears back. “Mattie couldn’t do it. We were going to leave, but then Papa turned Mattie over to the Vipers. He said he it was a matter of making things right. ”
James and the other guy in the room shared a look.
“It was not part of the plan.” The other guy said.
“You might be in more danger from your own crew.” Isis said.
“We need to call Roe,” Dana said.
The group didn’t push for more information and I didn’t offer it. MT sat with me while the others gathered in another room. I heard Roe’s voice through a speakerphone.
“You in any pain?” MT asked.
“Yes,” I said. The throbbing on my side grew worse.
“Let me see if we got anything to take the edge off.” He stood and disappeared into a small room. He came back with a plastic cup of water.
”Here try these.”
I looked into his hand.
The two pink pills were tiny.
“What are they?” I asked.
“Oxy. Don’t worry, low dose, a couple won’t hurt you," he answered.
I took the cup and popped them in my mouth.
“You know, not unless you’re pregnant or something.”
I spit the pills out into the cup of water and sat it on the table.
MT’s eye grew wide.
“You’re pregnant?”
I nodded.
“You’re pregnant.” Dana said from the door. “Who’s the father?”
“Mase, the man who shot me.”
