"Are you ready for it?"I asked Abbie as we drove over to the house later the next day. We stayed up giggling and talking all night. We passed out sometime aroundfivea.m.

I turned left onto TurtleCreek.

"These houses are insane." She had her head hanging out the car window. "You own one of them. I can'tbelieveit."

When we approached the house, Isloweddown.

"Almost there." I drove at acrawl.

"Come on. I want to see it," Abbiepleaded.

I came to an abrupt stop in front of the white stonestructure.

Abbie stared at the house, turned toward me, and then back toward thehouse.

"You've got to be fucking kidding me." She pushed the door open and stumbled out of the car. "It'shuge."

I smiled as we walked up the circular driveway. A black SUV sat at the end of one side of the driveway. I knew that truck. "Harrison'shere."

"That's histruck?"

I nodded. I pushed the door open. I followed the sound of hip hop beats up the stairs to the secondfloor.

“OhmyGod!”

"What? What's wrong?” Abbieasked.

Harrison knelt at the top of the stairs. He adjusted a post on the newly installed banister. The wood slats matched the honey brown wood on thefrontdoor.

Why was he installing them? Harrison had people working for him todoit.

"Hey," Harrison said and turned down themusic.

I ran up the stairs two at a time. I knelt next to him and ran my hand down the slat. It was smooth to thetouch.

"What do you think?" heasked.

"It's beautiful." I smiled and stared intohiseyes.

Henodded.

We were pulled out of our mutual . . . whatever, when Abbie spun around the foyer andsquealed.

We bothlaughed.

"Abbie," Iyelled.

She stopped in midspin. "What?"

“You remember Harrison. Harrison,Abbie."

"Well, hello Harrison. It’s a pleasure to meet you again,” Abbie said in her seductive tone that always made melaugh.
