That was my mistake.
God, how did I ever think that I could possibly survive without him? That I could ever have met him back in the coffee shop and not declared him as mine? That I could ever have avoided him, ever have not wanted to doSeeking Mr. Rightat once because it meant spending time with him?
I make a note to be extra thankful to Nate in my Christmas card to him. I’ve never sent Christmas cards before, but Sebastian explained that they were the thing to do.
I know Sebastian still misses his job, but in the end, it wasn’t turning out to be what he wanted. Belinda and he are discussing starting a new dating show, with him as the host.
The doorbell rings, and Finn and Noah saunter in.
“Are we first?” Noah asks.
“Yeah.”
Noah beams. “We won!”
Finn pulls his husband closer and ruffles his hair. “My Sweet Puck!”
I can hear a car pulling up outside, but my mind is on the small red box that I purchased last week. Well, what is in the red box I the most interesting part. Particularly what it represents.
“You laughing to yourself, Hawthorne?” Finn asks.
“Life is really good,” I say, pulling Sebastian toward me. His slender body fits perfectly against my not-very-slender one.
“Any plans for Christmas Day?” Noah asks Sebastian.
“We’re driving to Ashcove,” Sebastian says. “To see our families.”
“It’s very convenient that they both live close together,” I say, and Sebastian squeezes my hand.
Sebastian’s mother seems to be in a better place now, and Bryce has been cordial to Sebastian, at least in small doses.
“This is a gorgeous Christmas tree!” Noah exclaims from the next room, and I follow them into the drawing room. The old-fashioned ornaments gleam, and I inhale the scent of the Christmas tree and garlands scattered over the room.
I pull Sebastian close to me. “I love you.”
His eyes soften. “I love you too.”
“I mean, I really love you.”
The doorbell rings, and either Noah or Finn are giggling as they go to answer it.
Apparently, we’re ridiculously adorable or something. I’m pretty sure the adjective they mean is perfect. I get to live with Sebastian every day, and there is nothing more amazing in the world.
