Talking with him was also good. He had an amazing ability to hear what I said, understand what I left unsaid, and advise me on both. His dry sense of humor could make me smile no matter how hard my day, and by some miracle, he actually found me funny too. When I was too overwhelmed to think but too wrought up to rest, he could chat about random topics and take my mind off everything except his voice.

But now that we’d added a physical aspect to our relationship, my new favorite thing to do with Jude was to spread my legs and my ass and whimper while he did things with his tongue that felt so good they had to be illegal.

“Look at you, E,” he said reverently as he caressed my cheeks. “I love how open you are, how trusting.”

My head and shoulders were on the mattress, my knees were tucked underneath me, and my thighs were as far apart as I could manage. “Only with you,” I rasped.

Never would I have made myself so vulnerable with another person, but Jude was different. He protected me, cared about me, and if the noises he made as he flattened his tongue and ran it up my crease were any indication, lusted after me.

“Ah,” I moaned in pleasure, the softness of his tongue in that hidden area making my entire body tremble. “So good.”

“I’m crazy about you.” He flicked the tip of his tongue over my pucker. “So damn crazy about you.”

“Me too. I—”

He curled his tongue and pushed it into my hole, destroying my ability to speak or think. After a couple of minutes piercing me with the slick muscle and bringing me to the edge, he curled his fingers around my cock, tugged it down, and licked from my crown, up my balls, and through my trench.

“Ah!” I shouted.

“Going to make you come like this, E. Just like this.” He shoved both his thumbs into my hole, spread me apart, and put his mouth back to work, rubbing his lips against me and fucking me with his tongue until I shook and gasped.

“Ready?”

I couldn’t answer with words, but I groaned, clasped my cheeks, and pulled them apart, showing him everything.

“Oh, Christ, E.” He kissed my lower back, right above my ass, and I realized he was trembling too. “Please, don’t get cold feet about this. Please, don’t get cold feet about me.”

I understood his concern. My relationship track record was dismal at best. But Jude wasn’t like anyone else. Jude was everything.

“Won’t happen.” I wiggled out from under him, pushed him onto his back, and straddled his hips. “You’re it for me.” I trailed my fingers over his face and met his gaze, wanting him to see the sincerity in my eyes, the vow. “You’ll always be it for me.”

He smiled then, a soft, tender rising of his lips and softening of his eyes. “You’ll always be it for me too.” He turned his head to the side and kissed my palm. “You’ve always been it for me.”

I flicked my gaze to the nightstand, spotted the lube, and reached for it. My hole was slick with his saliva, but I drizzled the lube onto his cock to ease the way.

“Ung,” Jude moaned when I stroked his dick, coating him with slick. “Going to ride me, E?”

I nodded, held his cock up, and squatted above him. Watching the pleasure and wonder on his face, I lowered myself onto him until he filled my body like he did my heart. We stayed that way, connected and panting, for several long seconds. Then Jude wrapped his hand around my erection and stroked me while I reached my arms back, braced myself on his thighs, and bounced. Our skin slapped, grunts merged, and before long, I pulsed over his hand and he shot inside me.

With a satisfied sigh, I collapsed onto his chest. “I probably should have remembered the condom.”

“Probably, but I get tested regularly and I haven’t been with anyone else in months. You don’t need to worry.” He combed his fingers through my hair. “I would have stopped you if it wasn’t safe, E. I’d never risk hurting you.”

“I know.” I kissed his chest. “I’ve always used condoms.” Less because I’d thought about STDs and more because I’d been terrified of getting someone pregnant and being saddled with them my entire life. I had a sudden flash of longing to share parenthood with Jude. “Ehm, I’ll, uh, go see the doctor and get the all-clear, okay?”

“Okay.” His voice sounded heavy and his fingers slowed.

I glanced up and saw his eyes fluttering shut, which wasn’t surprising. I’d woken him in the middle of the night because he was sexy, warm, and smelled delicious. Plus, I couldn’t sleep. Insomnia wasn’t a regular thing for me, but Oscar nerves had me jittery. The announcement would come early in the morning and I’d either get a call from my agent telling me I was nominated for Best Actor or a call saying I’d been overlooked.

Glancing up at Jude’s sleeping face, my heart warmed and my breath stuttered. Oscar or not, I’d never been happier.

“They announced the nominees,” I said as I walked into the bedroom.

Not wanting to wake Jude, I’d grabbed my phone and rushed to the living room to answer the call. Now that I had the news, I couldn’t wait to share it with him.

“And?” He immediately woke up and scrambled to a sitting position.

I walked over to him and sat on the edge of the mattress. “You were right about that role.”
