He laughed. “That shit ain’t gonna work on me this time and I wish a nigga would. I’ll drop a few behind that one.”
I laughed. “What the fuck, Sav?”
“I told her she can date all she wants for the free food, but that’s it. Ain’t shit shared but time and a meal. I wish the fuck she would test me.”
Again, I couldn’t stop laughing. That nigga was out there forcing a commitment, but he didn’t wanna have one. “What type of shit is this? How can you tell her what to do with her shit?”
“Because I can.” He sat back and rested against his chair.
“You’re playing a game, and I’m pretty sure you don’t wanna go down that road. It’ll show how nuts yo’ ass can really get since you have yo’ ass out here pussy managing.”
“Nigga, fuck you.” He shook his head, trying his hardest not to laugh at what I said.
“You’re saying that now, but wait until it’s another nigga willing to be right. You’re gonna be ready to murk his ass. But we will definitely see how this shit plays out.”
I kicked shit with him for a while before I had to get out and go check up on some shit. Some shit consisted of Lane’s hardheaded ass. She didn’t think I’d pull up to her job and actthe fuck up. She had me so fucked up, blowing me off the night before, talking about she had court early that morning. I didn’t disagree that she did, but that didn’t stop her from bringing her ass to my place. So I got her work address, and I was on my way to see what the fuck her problem was.
It was nothing to walk past her secretary and right into her office. She was sitting at her desk, looking over whatever paperwork she was holding. She didn’t even notice I had entered, because she had her music loud and eyes peering over the papers as if she’d missed something.
I walked over and turned the speaker off and looked in her direction. She was looking at me with confusion evident in her eyes.
“Yo’ security is shitty. Anybody could’ve come in here on you.” I approached her desk.
She had that sexy smirk on her face. “Anybody meaning you?” she questioned.
“C’mon now, baby. We both know I’m not just anybody.” I leaned across her desk directly into her space as she craned her neck looking up at me. “Now, don’t we?”
She laughed. “To what do I owe the pleasure, Mr. White?”
“You played me last night.” I rounded her desk. I stood next to her for a moment before I helped her up and took her seat. Then I pulled her into my lap.
“There are two chairs over there.” She was referring to the two chairs positioned in front of her desk for guests.
“Yeah, they’re for guests. I ain’t no fucking guest, Lane.”
She giggled. “You’ve definitely gone out of your way to prove that point.”
“Yo, cool it with the lip and pack up. You’ve been in this motherfucker since six this morning. Let’s go, baby.”
“And how do you know I’m ready to go or that I don’t have something to do after work?” She was asking all those damn questions like the lawyer she was.
“You do have shit to do. Me. Now c’mon, Lane. Don’t ask me no more of those damn open-ended questions. Get yo’ shit together and let’s bounce.” I helped her stand her fine ass up for the second time.
Of course, she did as I asked, but that damn sure didn’t stop her from giving me all that back talk she liked to give. She’d better be lucky I respected her job because I would’ve had her ass bent across the desk. Once she was fully packed, she went and stood by the door, looking me over. “I’m ready. Are you?” She allowed that shit to slip from her lips all inviting and shit. Just the way she looked at me when she said it had me bricked up. I didn’t even have plans for when we left there, but I could definitely think of a few.
CHAPTER

LANE
WeeksLater
Though hard to believe, whatever it was with Taurus was a first for me. I’d never dealt with a man who didn’t take my shit. I mean, Taurus was as laid-back as they came, but he had those tendencies that let me know he was a nut. Unlike the man I was supposed to be marrying, Taurus didn’t take my excuses nor give me the space I thought I needed. Taurus had a “my way or no way” type of attitude, and I found it sexy as hell. Not only was it sexy, but it was intoxicating, and it made me want to be around him more than anyone else I’d ever encountered. Those last few weeks alone, I’d spent more time in that man’s face than the man who actually belonged to me, and I didn’t think he gave one shit. Bash didn’t really love me. He loved the idea of conquering a woman like me. He fell in love with the idea of making a woman like me a notch in his belt.
“Fuck you so quiet for?” His voice and hand on my thigh pulled me from the deep thoughts that I found myself in.
“I was thinking. Where are we going?” I looked around as he swooped through traffic on the expressway, going the opposite direction of my home.
