“So before Taurus asked for a baby,” she whispered, which made me giggle.
“Bitch, why are you whispering?” I asked through laughter.
“Hell, I don’t know.” She shook her head. “How soon can you tell if you’re pregnant?” she asked.
“Shit, very soon, I might imagine. Why?” I was confused.
“Can you get pregnant while on the pill?”
“Yes. It’s possible if you miss some days, but you don’t miss days. You’re the only bitch that I know who has a whole alarm on her phone.” I laughed to myself, but I noticed she wasn’t laughing with me.
“Remember when he got shot? I was all off of my balance before that too. I’ve been so unorganized and everywhere that I was off of them for at least a month. I was going between my house and his, even before the damn shooting. My doctor told me there was little to no chance of me getting pregnant and that I could start fresh the following month, but then he asked. Now I’m thinking I co?—”
“Stop panicking. Just take a test.” There was nothing to worry about. Either she was, or she wasn’t.
SAVIOR
I sat in the passenger’s side of the car as Taurus drove out to where we were meeting Reese. I couldn’t wait to get this shit finished. I was tired of all the chaos and confusion. Money was funny when there was unnecessary beef. The bullshit going on was bad for business. I fucked around and took a loss on two of my businesses. Of course they were rebuilding, but they shouldn’t have had to be rebuilt behind hateful ass niggas.
“You ready for this?” Taurus interrupted my thoughts.
I glanced in his direction and threw my head forward. “Hell yeah. I’m tired of getting up to the same old bullshit. I’m tryna be happy and bask in life, not perpetuate negativity with hateful ass niggas.”
Taurus laughed. “You’re damn right about that. I’ma need a lil’ vacation after we finish this shit.”
“You took the words right out of my mouth. I just want to make my money and keep it clean. These niggas can have this beef shit.”
“Coming from the nigga who didn’t get shot. Nigga, that bullet put shit in perspective for my ass. They pumped that hot shit in my ass, and I swear I ain’t playing around no more.”
I laughed.
“Speaking of hot shit, why the fuck did we fill up three canisters of gas at that fucking gas station?” He looked over at me momentarily before looking back at the road.
I laughed sinisterly. “You’ll see.”
“What the fuck do you mean I’ll see? Nigga, you have me driving all the way to the woods. What the fuck are you about to do?”
I laughed. “Be cool, nigga. We’re about to have our own lil’ science experiment.”
“Aw shit. You’re on psycho time. See? This is really why niggas need to steer clear.” He shook his head. “Nigga, you need to seek some counseling.”
I shrugged my shoulders and rested. “Maybe so, but if I need it, then you do too.”
“I probably do, but I don’t walk around this motherfucker in suits with handkerchiefs acting like a motherfucking original.”
I chuckled at his reference to that Netflix show. “Park over there. We gotta do a little walking.”
He parked on the dirt road and looked over at me. “Nigga, what the fuck you mean walking? We two black motherfuckers, and you wanna walk in the woods at night with cartons of gas. Yeah, yo’ ass needs therapy.”
I got out of the car and walked around the back.
It took him a minute to get out of the car, but he got his bitching ass out and popped the trunk. “You do know I just got shot. I can’t do no hiking with your insane ass.”
“You can stay yo’ whining ass right here for all I care. I’m ’bout to go handle this shit so I can go home to my lady.” I grabbed the gas and waited for him to do the same.
The walk wasn’t that far, but I was glad when we got there. When we reached the spot in the woods where Reese was standing, I set the gas down and walked over to the two niggas sitting tied to the tree. A malicious smile overtook my face.
“Damn. Why didn’t you tell me this was on the agenda?” Taurus was a few feet behind me.
