My brother looked me over and nodded his head.
“Do me a favor and tell ya sister to pay up.” He grabbed his jacket from the stool and started toward the door.
“Amil, tell ya fake ass boss that I ain’t paying him shit. He ain’t the fucking mayor.” I mugged his back and stood from the barstool. I said it loud enough for him to hear too. He didn’t respond. Instead, he exited the door.
When it was just Amil and I, he glared at me. “Are you fucking crazy?” he asked.
“Am I crazy? Are you?” I asked with just as much aggression. I walked around the bar to clean the glass that he made himself a drink in. He didn’t even touch the drink. He just wasted my fucking liquor.
“Do you know who that man is? He runs all this shit, Reg. With one fucking word, Savior can have anything done,” he mused.
“He ain’t that much of a savior if he’s that fucking evil. I don’t cower to no man, Amil.”
“Things are different here, Regancy, and I’m not asking you to cower. Just pay the man’s taxes and…” He looked like he was begging me at that point. What my brother didn’t get was I wasn’t paying that man a dime because anything coming from my bar was mine. Fuck whatever tax they spoke of. I only paid the taxes that mattered to me.
SAVIOR
It was something about the way she spoke to a nigga that made me wanna fuck her rather than shoot her. It made me wanna dick her tough ass down until she was moaning my name into the wee hours of the fucking morning. Regancy was fucking beautiful, and she knew it too. It didn’t take a rocket scientist to see that she was smart and on her shit, but it was something different about her. The moment she exited the back where her office was, when we locked eyes, I saw more anger than fear. I wasn’t a people reader or none of that, but I was sure fear was the first reaction to most when they saw an unfamiliar person in their space. It was different with her. She was pissed off, and fear never flashed into her eyes. My mama always taught me that aperson’s eyes would always say what their lips didn’t. Her eyes did.
I threw my head back against the sofa and closed my eyes in attempt to enjoy the suction of Mel’s lips, but it wasn’t cutting it right then, because all I could think about was tough ass. I was never the type of nigga to be intrigued by a female, but there I was on some bitch shit, wondering what the fuck I’d say to her the next time we crossed paths. At that point, it wasn’t even about my money. It was about her.
“Why aren’t you enjoying it?” Mel’s voice filled the room and broke my thoughts.
I opened my eyes and looked down at her stone-faced. I hated when she opened her fucking mouth and spoke when she wasn’t spoken to.
“I mean, you’re sighing and shit, so I must be doing something wrong, right? Or are you thinking about another bitch while I’m on my knees between your legs?”
I chuckled because she was right, but I wouldn’t tell her that. “Shorty, it’s simple. The dick is hard for you to suck it, so do what you came here to do or bounce.”
She laughed. “You must be fucking with another bitch because what I ain’t finna do is keep letting you talk to me like I’m some basic bitch.”
I looked at her and chuckled as she stood to leave. I damn sure wasn’t about to try to stop her, but I stood to go clean myself up before walking her down toward the elevator. She needed a keycard to get in and even ride down. The building was strict about security, and that was one of the things I liked most about it. Once I was good, I walked toward the door and opened it, allowing her to step out before we walked onto the open and awaiting elevator that was a few feet away. As if fate had other plans, the elevator stopped a floor below mine, and there she was, standing at the elevator, too damn into her phone. Shestepped into the elevator and moved to the side before putting her key to the fob and pushing L.
“It’s not that simple, Vee. I live here now, and you’re there. If we couldn’t make it work there, then how can we make it work thousands of miles away?” She was trying to speak on the hush, but I heard her entire conversation.
I shook my head at the thought of how mad I felt myself becoming over a bitch I hadn’t even touched.
The signal letting us know that the elevator was about to open sounded before the doors opened and we walked off. I watched Mel storm out of the front doors as my eyes found their way back to Regancy’s thick ass frame. She was walking back toward the elevator with a pizza box in her hands. When she looked up in my eyes, she shook her head and still stepped onto the elevator.
“Come to try to charge me tax on my home too?” she asked in a sarcastic, snarky ass tone.
It made me chuckle before I turned and took her in. Her midnight tinted hair was all over her head, and she was wearing a one-piece that barely concealed her body. Thankfully, she had on a cardigan so niggas couldn’t get a peek at that fat thang back there. “Ain’t nobody tryna extort you. I offered you protection.”
“From who? You?”
I shook my head because her mouth was the type to get her in trouble with a nigga like me. I flipped the switch on the elevator and stopped it where it was before turning around and looking at her. “I don’t have to ask you for shit, Regancy. I’ll just take yo’ shit and hear you later on the back end. I tried to be all civilized and talk to you, but?—”
“Am I supposed to cower?” She didn’t back down. She looked up at me without an ounce of fear in her eyes. “Because I’ll be damned if I let you or anyone else take what I built.” The air in the elevator grew thin, and the moment exploded. Before I knewit, I had her in my arms and hemmed up against the elevator with my lips exploring hers like she explored mine. That shit was odd as fuck because I never kissed bitches or even put my lips on them. In that moment alone, I wanted to use my hands and lips to explore everything about this woman in search of what made her seem different.I don’t even know why I give a fuck.
The bell in the elevator was blaring before it got either of our attention, and by then, I didn’t just wanna fuck; I needed to.
With her stubborn ass still in my arms, I unlocked the elevator and sat her down. Of course she picked up the pizza she dropped on the floor and looked ahead.
“Just because I wanna fuck you don’t mean I don’t still want my money.”
She giggled and responded just as the doors opened on her floor. “Just because I’ma let you fuck doesn’t mean I’m paying yo’ ass shit.” With that, she walked off the elevator, and I followed. I could already see the trouble behind that one, and in no way, shape, or form was I turning around.
The moment she opened her door and I followed her in, I couldn’t help but look around her space. It was decked out but in a feminine way. Everything was in place, and her space just felt good. I mean, I had never walked into a crib and the energy vibrated as high as hers. My eyes found their way to her as she hopped onto her counter and was just looking at me. If I didn’t know any better, I’d think she was studying me the way I always did her when I was in her presence. She curled her finger, summoning me, like I was at her beck and call. That night, I was. I wanted to hear her scream my name while I made her climb the walls. I walked over to her and slid between her legs, allowing my hands to graze the thighs that I’d admired so much. Regancy was just the right amount of thick, giving a nigga the right amount to grab. I wasted no time latching my hands around the tank top part of her lil’ sumo suit, and I pushed it further downher shoulders as I allowed my lips to kiss each spot I exposed. Once I got it low enough, she lifted her body slightly, making my task much easier.
