“Regancy, who is he? Please tell me he is not the little bitch guy from here. I told you that he?—”
“And this is why I waited so long to tell you. You’re overreacting. No. It’s no him. He’s someone I met here.”
“Fine. Does he treat you and Kale well?” he asked. He had calmed down.
“Yes.” I smiled just thinking about Savior.
“Well, how did you meet him?” my father asked.
“Well, that’s a very long story. How about we FaceTime in the morning, and I tell you all about it?” I was trying to rush him off the phone.
“I see what you’re doing, but I will be waiting by the phone in the morning. If you do not call me, I will be flying to Chicago to meet this man. Non prendermi in giro, Regancy.(Don’t play me, Regancy.)” The moment he went Italian, I knew he meant business.
“Sì, ti amo Papa. (Yes, I love you, Dad,)”I responded.
“Ti amo piccola ragazza. (I love you, baby girl.)”
Once we hung up, I got up from the bed and went to the washroom to take care of myself. I’d been sleep for a while judging by the way my hair looked and the fact that the sky was dark. That was interesting, considering I was never one to sleep long and I wasn’t a heavy sleeper. A few moments later, I walked out of the bedroom toward the kitchen area. When I turned the corner, what I saw made me want to cry. This man never ceased to amaze me with how sweet he was. Savior and Kale were cooking what I assumed was dinner since it was so late in the day.
“It smells good in here.” I smiled.
“We made dinner today so you didn’t have to,” Kale announced.
“You did? What did you guys make?”
“Burgers and fries. We decided to leave the veggies to you.”
I pursed my lips. “I bet you did.” I looked from her to Savior, and the way his big ass was hopping away from the stove, so he didn’t get popped by the grease was comical.
“Mommy, I told him that you use the spatula for stuff like that so you don’t get burned, but he said he didn’t have one.” She shrugged. Then she hopped down and went into the living room to watch whatever was on TV.
“Baby, do you need some help with that?” I questioned.
“Hell yeah I need some help. My assistant just jumped ship, and this shit is burning.” He shook he head and screwed his face up.
After a little of laughing, I ended up taking over while he sat at the island and took calls. I wondered if this was how things were supposed to be in normal life. I hoped so because I could get used to life this way. After all the heavy stuff of course.
CHAPTER
EIGHTEEN
TAURUS
It was ingrainedin us to always have a meal in the morning before getting down to business or just to do it once a week and talk everything with life over. As of lately, it wasn’t doing what it was supposed to do when it came to the taste. “My nigga, ever since my sister made me that knock-off IHOP omelet, this shit ain’t giving what it’s supposed to give no more. Now I have expectations on how my food should look and taste.” I picked through my food.
Savior laughed. “I said the same damn thing. Now that I get a home-cooked meal every night, shit like this isn’t even fucking enticing.”
“Then why the fuck are we here? Why didn’t you ask my sister to make us breakfast? Share the wealth, nigga. You know my baby mama can’t cook, and the chef don’t get to my crib until two.” I shook my head at this nigga’s selfishness.
“You think I didn’t try that shit? We’re only eating this shit is because Re had a meeting at Kale’s school this morning.”
“What did lil’ mama do?” I asked. We sounded like some spoiled bitches at this point.
“They said she hit some lil’ boy in his shit for pulling her hair.”
“Okay, and why the fuck is there a conference?” I had my face screwed up.
“That’s what the fuck I said, and that’s why Re wouldn’t let me go as well.” He laughed. “But it’s’ cool. Baby K knows to call me if shit goes a different way.”
