“The spot is nice, right?” Taurus asked.

“It’s tough. I can see the dollars rotating off this one.” I smiled more when money was the topic.

All three of us laughed.

“I gotta head out. Try not to be on no bullshit in my absence.” Mike stood to leave. He was paid well, and he knew me better. “Taurus has the list. It’s a few goldmines on there too.”

I nodded my head and focused on Taurus, his attention was on the booth directly in front of us. “Nigga, what’s ya beef?” I questioned.

“Brown skin over there in the booth. She look like she could be my next ex. She was Amil’s lawyer that time he got jammed up.”

I chuckled because every bitch was his next ex, so that was nothing new. My nigga kept a next ex and wasn’t ashamed at all. I glanced around the space before I waved a waitress over.

Seconds later, she walked over with a smile on her face. “What can I do for you gentlemen?” she questioned.

“Do me a favor and gimme the digits to the owner of this establishment.” I glanced around, then back at her.

“No problem, but she’s on the premises, so I can just have her visit your table if that’s fine.”

“Yup. That’s perfect, shorty,” Taurus responded.

I nodded and watched her walk over to the booth that was directly in front of us and lean over. She said something and then pointed over to our table before walking away. Within seconds, a female stood up and stepped to the side, allowing the female who was in the middle of the booth to slide out. It just so happened to have been shorty from the elevator walking in the direction of my table.

“Good afternoon, gentlemen, My name is Regancy. How can I help you?” she questioned, standing her thick ass in front of us. Since I was looking at her face-to-face, she was more than beautiful; she was radiant, but too bad that didn’t save her from the same treatment as anybody else that I wanted something from.

“You run this by yaself?” I questioned.

She nodded.

“I want in.” I sat back in my seat and studied her expression. I fully expected the confused expression that plagued her face.

“I don’t remember saying I was looking for a partner, Mr?—”

“Jones, and I didn’t ask you if you did. It wasn’t a question. I was telling you that I wanted part of your busi?—”

She busted up laughing. “Baby, bye. You enjoy the rest of your day. Your meals and drinks are on me.” She walked away from me. I couldn’t even front; that shit turned a nigga on, but it was about my money, so I buried the smile threatening to rush my face. She didn’t know me yet.

“Aye, Ms. Lady, my boy is talking to you.” Taurus was an asshole, so he yelled after her, then he laughed and looked at me. He wasn’t even fucking with her. He was starting his shit with me. “Damn, Mr. Jones, she didn’t give a fuck about who you were.” He chuckled.

I licked my lips and watched her sit back down with her girl. I’d see her fine defiant ass later, and she was gonna give me some of her business with her little cute ass. What the fuck was I calling this bitch cute for? She was probably like all the rest of these hos out here.

“You’ve met somebody who ain’t afraid of your big ass.”

“I ain’t worried about that. Regancy will see me.” I shrugged her off, even though she had me intrigued.Even though I shouldn’t be.

LANE (LL-ANE)

I cut my eyes in the direction of the table with the fine ass man with locs and looked at my best friend. She was very flusteredwhen she returned from their table, which made me concerned. Regancy never got flustered over anything. Whatever old boy said to her must’ve pissed her off.

“Anyways, what’s up with Vee?” I questioned. Vee was her guy back in New York. They were on and off, so I never knew. He didn’t believe that he was getting all of her, but considering what she’d gone through, he should’ve been grateful for what he got. It took a lot for Regancy to open up to anyone, so he should’ve been honored that she gave him what she did.

“Not a damn thing. Vee is too demanding, and I don’t have time to keep playing the hot-cold game. He wants me to need him, but I don’t. I can’t put myself in a position to need any nigga.”

I shook my head because she was right. “So, what happened over there?” I nodded my head in the direction of old boy and his friend that she’d just encountered.

“I don’t even feel like explaining.” She rolled her eyes to the ceiling.

“Well…” I studied her.
