“Why can’t you jus?—”
“C’mon na, and bring me some of whatever you cooked.” I hung up before she could respond.
I hopped on the elevator and rode it up to my floor. As I was walking to my door, I spotted Mel from afar and shook my head. “The fuck you doing here?”
“I just need to talk to you.”
“How did you get up here?” I asked, looking around while bypassing her to get into my place. Once I had the door open, I walked in.
“So you’re dating her?”
“My personal life ain’t none of ya concern. Matter fact, you shouldn’t even be here, Mel. If I didn?—”
“If you didn’t call me, then I shouldn’t show up.” She finished, latching her hand on her hip. She looked emotional, maybe even hurt, but that wasn’t my problem. We had been at that shit for two years, but I felt no type of way for her. The sex was good, but that was about it. Shorty and I had no ties. I just wished she got through her fucking skull.
As if time stood still, I watched Regancy walk into the open door and slip right past Mel. That mug that was ingrained in my skull from last time was there. “Is something going on here?” There was a certain edge to her voice and the way she still proceeded to put the plate on the island in the center of the kitchen. Then I heard her slippers as she walked her ass back to the immediate vicinity where I was standing staring at Mel. For the life of me, I couldn’t understand why that ditzy bitch was still standing here.
REGANCY
It was too soon for that, way too fucking soon for me to benutting up over a nigga, but there I was, standing in the middle of his kitchen, visualizing myself bopping that nigga and bitch across the head with the umbrella by the door.
“I’ll just catch you lat?—”
“Nah. You should catch him now, sis.” I crossed my arms across my chest and turned to look up at Savior. He was looking straight ahead at old girl. “Lemme give you guys the space to discuss that.” I started to walk toward the exit. He grabbed my wrist and pulled me into him.
“After two ye?—”
He kept a firm grip on my wrist as he looked up at her. “I said what I said, Mel. It ain’t no?—”
“Call this bitch by her government. Fuck the cute pet names.” I glared up at him. At that point, my temper was flaring, and that umbrella was looking mighty enticing.
She sucked her teeth. “Who are you calling a bitch, bitch?”
I started laughing and looked up at Savior. “Let me go so I can go home. It’s obvious you have some unfinished business with Melanie over there. I don’t nee?—”
“Cool out.” He made sure to keep his grip as he looked at me momentarily. “Melanie, yeen got no business being here. You knew what was up. This shit right here is pointless, and you’re upsetting my girl.”
“Your girl? This ghetto?—”
“I’ll show your thick wig ass ghetto.” I pointed with my free hand.
“Get the fuck out, Melanie.” his voice roared.
At least this time he called her by her government.
As if he had wind in his lungs, she blew out of the door and slammed it behind her. I was on my way out of the same door as soon as he let my arm go. I didn’t like my reactions when it came to him.
“You need to control your fucking temper. Crazy ass woman.” He let me go and walked over to the island while I turned to walk out of his door. I didn’t think I was ready for the type of emotions that man brought out of me so early on. “Don’t walk yo’ ass out that door, or I’ll be at ya door kicking that bitch in after I finish eating.”
I turned and looked at him, and he wasn’t looking in my direction. “I’m not ready for this. I think you need to get your females in order and?—”
“It’s too fucking late for all of that. I want you, and I know you want me. So yeen goin’ nowhere, and neither am I. Did you already eat?” He attempted to change the subject.
I just looked at him in total disbelief because he said what he said with a straight face, and he never looked up at me. Shit, it made me clench my thighs, but it rendered me speechless.
“Don’t be difficult, bae. Gone ahead and gimme some ketchup.” He was looking at me with a smile while chewing the French fries.
I shook my head, yet somehow, my stupid ass ended up walking in the direction of the refrigerator to get that nigga his ketchup.
