“We always have beef, Savior.” I watched him reach for my lemon water and drink from it before giving me his undivided attention.

“Only because you like that. You like to give me a hard time so I can fuck you rough every time. You want a man to be a lil’ toxic with you.”

I giggled, looking around to make sure no one heard him. When I did look up, my girl was too caught up in Taurus and whatever he was whispering to pay us any mind.

“Don’t trip, baby. I know I’m right.” He had a knowing smirk on his face as he leaned into me.

“How did you know I was here?” I questioned. I had to change the subject because at that point, I was clutching my thighs under the massive table. It was his demeanor alone that had me thinking filthy thoughts.

“Because I always know where you are and what you’re doing. As well as who you’re with.” His eyes held a sudden weight when he said that part.

I licked my lips and just peered at him. “I believe you. My own personal stalker.”

“You drove here?” he questioned.

“Nope.” He should’ve known me well enough to know that I only drive when I really had to, but other than that, it was Uber or walk everywhere. Driving just wasn’t something I liked to do.

He nodded. “What time do you have to pick up Kale?”

“After I finish my lunch with my friend that you crashed.” I had a small smile on my face. It was natural with him, especially when he was all in my business.

He nodded before allowing his eyes to take me all the way in. I felt nothing but warmth in every place that he looked before he leaned on closer to my ear and spoke. “Let’s go.”

“Where?” I questioned like I was gonna object.

“Does it matter?” His question came out as more of a statement than a question. He hated when I questioned him, but he claimed it kept him on his toes.

“Probably not.” I giggled to myself before standing. “I’ll be right back.” I went to the washroom to relieve my bladder.

Once I returned to the table, they were all standing, and Taurus had just thrown bills on the table. After I promised Lane that I’d call her later, we parted ways. She parked in the parking garage, so she and Taurus exited through the back of the restaurant while Savior and I went out of the front.

Before we even reached the car, the voice of a female caught my and his attention.

“I guess this is why I haven’t really heard from you.” I recognized her as the girl that he brought to my tavern. Then she glanced at me and shook her head. “He won’t be with you for long, sweetie. He’s a wanderer.” The she turned her attention to Savior. “See you soon, Savior.” She walked off seconds later.

Immediately, her words hit me like a ton of bricks. I snatched my hand from his and crossed my arms across my chest. What the hell did she mean by wanderer? I definitely don’t have time for this shit right here.

“Get in the car, Regancy,” he demanded in attempt to act like old girl didn’t just tell him she’d see him soon.

“Nah, go see that bitch.” I turned to walk away, but he grabbed my arm. Before I knew it, he had the door open and me boxed in between him and the passenger’s seat.

“Don’t let a bitch that I pay to leave fuck up this moment.”

I still wasn’t getting into the car. “You still pay that bitch to leave or?—”

“Didn’t you just hear the bitch say she ain’t heard from me? Get yo’ hard of hearing ass in the car.” He looked like I was annoying him, but I really didn’t give a fuck. I was fuming. I stood there for a while, but he didn’t seem like he was gonna move, so eventually, I sat down and allowed him to close the door. By that time, my momentary bout of jealousy was subsiding.

Seconds later, he got into the driver’s side of the car and glanced over at me. “You hid that shit well.”

“Hid what?” I didn’t bother looking in his direction. I kept my eyes in the direction of the window. I had to still seem mad so it wouldn’t seem like I’d just thrown a meaningless tantrum.

“That crazy shit. I see it all in yo’ fucking eyes and the way you breathing all hard and shit.” He shook his head and started the car. We were a few minutes into the ride before he turned the radio down. “Are you gonna put ya mama’s address in or sit over there pissed off like bec?—”

“Stop over at that Popeyes,” I demanded. I could no longer hide the fact that I wasn’t angry anymore. I was more so hungry because he did interrupt my lunch.

“And why the fuck would I do that?” he asked. I didn’t have to look at him to know that his face was screwed up.

“Because I’m hungry.” I leaned forward and keyed my mama’s address into his touchscreen console before sitting back and looking in his direction.
