Alexander shrugged his indifference to the woman. “All we ever knew was that she had recently arrived from Eastern Europe. We all knew to stay away from her. So we did. Others weren’t so smart.”

“She made the shifter attack Sam’s family?”

 “No, she didn’t.”

“But Sam thought it was okay to end her life?”

“Why the questions? She was just some old woman.”

I ignored his remark enough not to respond. “I’m guessing you had a family?”

Alexander nodded. “They died shortly after Sam’s family. Cholera took both my wife and son.”

“What am I missing? Why not just split the land?”

“Sam wants to grow his pack. To do so, he needs more land.”

“This is insane.” Just as the words slipped from my lips, thunder roared across the sky. Moments later, the rain began.

Prague scurried up the steps and took up a spot against the wall near the front door. I glanced at the road and the quickly forming mud puddles littering the way out. I wasn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

“What is that you want me to do?” I was not a backstabber, but I figured that’s exactly what Alexander wanted. But Sam had also left out this very important detail about his brother.

“I have a different set of papers inside. I want you to file those instead.”

“Unbelievable,” I said. “Your papers are to give you full reign of the property?”

 Alexander shrugged. “Of course.”

Lightning flashed across the sky, and then a second streak hit a tree close by.

“We should go inside.” Anthony passed me on the way into the house, his jeans tight, his ass even tighter. His tee-shirt hugged every lean muscle in his upper body. I’d gone from zero desires to a horny-ass hoe in twenty-four hours.

I rubbed my temples, and the headache surging forward.

 “You okay?” Alexander asked.

“I think we should go inside,” I said and stood, wobbly on my feet. My tryst with the four men had literally spent every ounce of energy I had. “A glass of water would be great.” I started forward, but my knees quickly gave out. Alexander swooped in and caught me before I hit the porch.

“The master bedroom,” Alexander said to Prague. “Hurry.”

Alexander lifted me into his arms and laid my head against his chest. I remembered how he had moved the tree and wondered how a man with such power could have such a soft touch. I breathed him in, the scent overwhelmingly delightful.

We passed through the open front door, and I knew at that moment there was no turning back. They could do with me as they pleased, and I was helpless to fight back. Fighting against what was trying to push forward was draining me.

“Pull the covers back,” I heard someone say, and then my head was gently touching pillow, my body resting comfortably on a bed. “She needs to rest.” Whoever said it was correct.

Through squinted eyes, I watched the three men leave the room, Alexander only stopping to dim the lights. Once again, I found myself in a strange bed surrounded by unfamiliar men.

They were using me against each other. Using my profession to their advantage. Had making love to Sam and the others meant anything? As much as I loved the sinful nature of what I’d done, I would be nobody’s toy. I was in control. They needed me far more than I needed them. But was that even true? There was a growing need—an ever-increasing desire burning inside me. Either intentionally or unintentionally, Sam and his friends had released a dark, debaucherous side of me that had been hidden too deep for me to free alone. And now I wanted more. I wanted Sam, Flux, Mani, and Rogue. Oddly enough, I also wanted Alexander, Prague, and Anthony. My sexual desire was beginning to cloud the reason I had come to the woods in the first place.

“What time is it?” I flung back the covers and sat up on the edge of the bed, feeling much better and feeling the need to get moving.

Alexander sat in a chair across from me. He looked toward the window and then at his watch. “After diner time. You were sleeping so well, we didn’t want to wake you.”

“You wanted to prevent me from turning the land over to Sam.” Then I noticed I had no clothes on. “You undressed me?”
