We headed back through the city, the van following us, my five new fans. I probably shouldn’t have trusted the way I did. But I knew Veronica was destroying lives and knew they didn’t want to be on her list of destruction.

Daylight blanket the trees and roads as we entered the park once again. This time I was able to see just how beautiful the park was. We passed several waterfalls and people who had gotten early to swim in the small pools surrounded by rocks and trees. I could see why Suzanne might want to stay there if that had really been the case.

“You never said what happened to Chrissy. I haven’t seen or heard a peep from her.”

“Chrissy worshipped the ground Veronica walked on. No matter what Veronica wanted, Chrissy made sure she obeyed orders.” She turned onto the bumpy road. I checked the side view mirror to make sure the van still followed.

 “You’re not answering my question.”

“You remember the night we all left the boat, leaving you and Veronica alone?”

“The guard took Chrissy out of the dining room.”

“Yeah, back to his room where he fucked her to death. He literally killed her after she overdosed on Veronica’s drugs.” Tears formed in the corners of Stephanie’s eyes. “Her body was on the boat, bringing us into the city. I don’t know what happened to her after that.”

My stomach turned, and my heart hurt for the young woman. I wanted to find the guard and make him pay for killing Chrissy.

We pulled onto a side road and parked. Midnight was a long way away.

I climbed out, and Stephanie followed. “I want to see if the guards at the gate have been doubled. There’s no way Veronica thinks everything is hunky-dory, and I’ve left the country. She’s smarter than that, and I’m sure she has the resources to keep us out.” My five friends joined us, and I explained what I had in mind.

“Surely you’re not planning on going through the front gate,” Maria said.

“No, we’re going to the Landrover and working our way up the tunnel and enter the house that way. My guess is Veronica hasn’t considered that route or think we know about it.”

“I’m going with you,” Eloa said, “to scope out the front gate.”

“She’s former military,” Juliana said. “She knows her shit.”

 Stephanie shrugged. “Fine by me.”

“Let’s go. We’ll be back before dark. Find something to do until we get back.” The four ladies smiled, and I shook my head. “Do not touch Stephanie. Go masturbate or something.”

Eloa and I headed through the trees at a slow pace, heading up the side of a small mountain. We still had almost six hours until midnight, but I wanted to make sure we got back to the others before dark. When we were far enough away from the others, Eloa decided to open up.

“You went kind of crazy on us last night.” She stepped over a downed tree and almost lost her footing. “You know we meant no harm?”

“I was just pissed at myself for letting Veronica play me the way she has. Although you may have been on the receiving end of my madness, it really wasn’t directed at you.” I held her hand as we continued to climb, not knowing if it were an insult or not. I’d never dealt with anyone in her situation and had no clue as to what the etiquette was.

“It’s okay to hold my hand, Deacon. I won’t bite.”

“You know I’m curious about you and the others. I just haven’t figured out a way to ask the right questions.”

“You wanted to know why I’m this way, don’t you? It’s okay. It’s the typical question we all get. Why are we so fucked up is the next question.” She held my hand tighter as we climbed up several rocks.

“To be honest, I don’t give a shit why you or any of the others chose to be what you are. That’s not on me to judge. Is it curious? Yeah, no doubt. But there are just as many fucked up people who call themselves normal. And you never know what the hell someone is hiding in their closet.”

The wall around the mansion came into view, and we ducked down. Peering over a rock, we saw Veronica had added an additional three men at the front gate, including the guard from the boat.

I pointed up the mountain. “A little higher, and we can see over the wall.” I grabbed Eloa’s hand, and we started up the hill.

“There’s something I want to ask you,” Eloa said. “You’re a straight guy, right?”

 “I definitely am.”

“Then why did you do it? Why did you have sex with us? I assume Veronica fucked you long before you arrived.”

That was the million-dollar question. Why did I do it and then continue to do it? “I think we both can agree Veronica is hot as hell. As long as her dick is covered up, nothing else about her suggests she’s a man.”
