Of course that’s what’s important to him. Why does it almost make me smile? “Like a deadly bomb,” I deadpan.

He laughs in response.

“We’d probably kill each other. Plus, weren’t you also interested inCurlyat the bar?” The memory of him with that twink rubs me the wrong way.

“Curly?” He frowns, but then understanding fills his eyes and he let out a short chuckle.

“Like you remember his name,” I counter.

“I flirted withCurlyonly because I saw you there,” he confesses without an ounce of shame.

“Let me get this straight. You hit on a guy and annoyed me on purpose to get your mouth fucked?” I ask him, baffled.

“I did it to rattle your cage, but the mouth-fucking part was a huge bonus.” He licks his lips and then shrugs. “I enjoy winding you up.”

“Careful, darling. That street goes both ways,” I remind him.

He ignores my words. “I’m already planning on how to make you explode next time. I wonder which hole you’re going to try to wreck.”

The blatant, scheming little shit makes my brain freeze with a dirty image of him bent in front of me with my cock jackhammering mercilessly inside his stretched hole.

Kaiden unlocks and opens the door. I shake myself out of my stupor and follow him, ready to give him a piece of my mind when he abruptly stops one step away from the bar and lets out a scream that almost ruptures my eardrum.

He spins and grabbing my shoulders he scrambles up my body so fast it reminds me of a squirrel. Looping both arms and legs around me, head tucked under my neck, he shivers. He’s heavier than me and his weight pushes me backward till the column near the bar stops my stumbling retreat.

“What the fuck happened?” I glare at the guys near the counter while holding Kaiden’s trembling body to mine. My annoyance toward him has been pushed away and replaced by protectiveness.

“For fuck’s sake, Kai! It’s just a spider,” Sally huffs with irritation.

A spider? Sure enough, I spot a brown spider taking a walk on the well-worn bar island.

Kaiden’s head lifts hesitantly from my neck to turn his glower to Sally. “Just a spider? He has a thousand legs, a head covered in beady eyes, and lays eggs! I’m sure this place will be crawling with fangy monsters soon. It will become their nest and they will quickly evolve and conquer the world. We’ll become their buffet and…”

“You’re insane!” she barks at him.

“The gist of it is that spiders are sneaky meat-eaters. You shouldn’t underestimate them,” Kaiden retorts bitterly and ridiculously.

At the momentwesurely look ridiculous. A big tattooed motherfucker koala-wrapped around a guy in a suit.

Sally, using a glass and a coaster, easily captures the frightening meat-eater and walks away with it.

“Did you see the agonizing struggle Sally went through to catch it? Such an indomitable adversary,” I sarcastically tell him, feeling strangely relieved by the fact that Kaiden is fine.

He sends a glower my way. His face is an inch from mine and reminds me of the kiss we shared a few minutes ago.

“Of course, the Devil is not afraid of anything.” He sniffs. Oh, but I am. I’m terrified by the new emotions he’s causing inside of me

His body seems to relax, but he doesn’t let go of me. Thank fuck there’s not a lot of people in the bar. Kaiden’s shriek could have started a temporary mass hysteria.

Starting to feel the weight of his big body, I shift and drop us on a stool.

“Fuck, you’re heavy!” I put more strain than necessary in my voice.

“All muscles, Beelzebub.” He supports his words with a flex of his bicep.

“Get your muscled ass off me, then,” I say dispassionately.

“Like Predator isn’t enjoying it,” he whispers in my ear.
