Wait a minute.Slutty? I’ve never let anybody near my hole—not counting the few people who liked to stick a finger in it while blowing me. That wasn’t so bad. I’m quite open to new experiences, but I’m big and bold, so men usually assume I’m a top. And I am.

Still, his words create a warm, breathtaking, swirling sensation in my stomach—while Falkor keeps jumping inside my pants like he’s trying to reach for Cole.

I pucker my lips, pretending not to be affected by his hot statement. “You’ll need a bottom for that.”

“Are you offering?” His eyes fall on the bulge in my jeans. Well, my dick has no say this time.

“Politely decline,” I utter the same rejection words from a year ago back to him.

He tilts his head to the side. His gaze is intent on my face now, studying me. I almost feel like he could read all my thoughts. It makes me uneasy.

Then he blinks and his expression turns blank again. He runs a hand through his hair. Straightening back up, he asks, “So, what do you think?”

What? I clear my voice and say, “About?”

“My apartment.” He gesture toward the living room where people are mingling. I completely forgot about the party and everything else. Maybe it’s lack of sleep. That’s why I feel like my brain is misfiring, having all those weird thoughts about…Cole. So fucking weird.

“Nicer than I expected,” I reply. “But I suggest you keep your windows open, to get rid of your burnt smell. It pollutes the air.”

He crosses his arms on his chest once again. His left blond brow kicks up. “Is that why you were sniffing me a minute ago?”

Was I? “You know the saying, keep your friends close…” I shrug, turning my head to the living room.

“Keep your enemies closer. Didn’t know you were a Sun Tzu enthusiast.”

“I’m a Scooby-Doo admirer.” I wink at him. Ah! A lip twitch. He smothers it immediately—and pointlessly. I saw it.

“Well, this was, I wish I could say interesting…but, yeah. Let’s not do it again.”

I pat his arm and turn to walk toward the other guests, when he whispers, “But we always do.”

I hate when he’s right.

COLE

Fucking Kaiden Donnelly!I’m going to strangle him!

Yanking the handle of my apartment door, I enjoy the bang it makes when it hits the wall. I stomp to Kaiden’s place to knock heavily on his door. The huge wooden cross covering almost the entire surface makes it slightly difficult. I roll my eyes at the idiocy.

It’s eight in the morning and being a tattoo artist, I know he starts his job around twelve. I so hope I’m waking him up, disturbing his beauty sleep.

Unfortunately, it’s a sweaty Kaiden who appears on the other side of the door. The sight distracts me from my anger for a moment. He’s wearing grey sweat shorts and an absurdly tight white tank top that leaves no doubt about him having pierced nipples. The hair around his forehead is damp, a few strands have fallen from the ponytail, framing his face. His skin is slightly flushed from exercise. I have to force my eyes up to stop ogling him.

Kaiden catches me anyway. “You can take a pic if you need, something to jerk off to later.”

“Or use it as a dart target.” My lips thin, my annoyance is back full-force.

“This? A target?” He tilts his head down, pouts his lips and looks at me with what I can only describe as puppy eyes. Those dark green pools turn watery and get filled with innocence and vulnerability.

“Are you done?” I hiss at him. He frowns and all the cuteness leaves his face.

“Why it doesn’t work with you,” I think I hear him mumbling when he turns his back to me and walks away.

I follow his bouncy ass to the kitchen after closing the front door—forced by the manners instilled into me while I was growing up.
