“Where have you been, man? It’s been forever,” Sam asks him, maybe too excited to notice Garret’s discomfort.

“I moved to Miami. Almost finished veterinary school and doing my residency program here in Newnan.” Garret says, sending me a mega-thank-you look when I hand him a shot of tequila. He downs it, and I quickly pass him another one.Jesus fuck, I smell drama.

“Ty never said what happened, by the way.” Sam’s lips have turned into a long line.I called it. Drama.

“Because nothing happened.” Garret’s tone is too light. “I moved. The distance…we lost contact. It happens sometimes. You know?”

“No, I don’t. He….” Sam stops himself to take a big breath. “You and Ty were as thick as thieves. Never seen two people more in sync in my entire life.”

“We were kids.” Sounds like Garret is trying to downplay it.

“It was not so long ago.”

“How long?” I ask. I really want to help Garret, but this is like one of those soap operas on TV. It just sucks you in.

“Four years.”

“Almost fi…ve,” Garret corrects Sam.

“Ty is going to flip when I tell him.”

“Could you please maybe not?” Garret whispers hopefully.

“What? Why?”

“What’s the point?!” He says too loudly. “He has his life. I have mine. We moved on. Let’s just leave things as they are.”

“But…” Sam’s response is cut off by Jordie’s exclamation. “Mel wins. Thirty-one minutes.”

I turn and see Pete and Asher’s huge bodies filling the bar entrance. Kaiden follows close behind. Pete stops in front of Daniel, nostrils flaring. After sliding his gaze down his boyfriend’s body, he lifts Daniel up and gives him a long, dirty, this-is-my-man-fuck-off kiss. Asher wraps himself around Jordie and whispers something in his ear, making him smile like a loony. Of course Kaiden comes to me.Bollocks!

I grab a shot and gulp it down, starting to feel a nice buzz going around my body.

“Ugh, just nail me to a crossbeam and be done with it,” I mumble.

Kaiden smirks at me. “Didn’t know you were that kinky, little turd.”

“Why would you? You’ve been on my shit list from day one,” I quip.

“Come on, don’t go all Gordon Ramsey on me. I came in peace.”

I aim a very incredulous glare at him.

“Where’s my money?” I crook my fingers in a gimme gesture.

“Here.” He yanks it from his pocket and places it on the counter. “Mel is paying for a round, guys,” the bastard yells to the others.

My eyes fall on a very uncomfortable Garret. He seems ready to bolt while Sam keeps talking to him.

“Watch your back!” I tell Kaiden in the scariest voice I can muster before moving away from him. But I’ve taken barely one step when I hear his snort.Revenge is so sweet when people underestimate me.

I reach Garret, and grabbing his hand, I apologize to Sam and pull him onto the dance floor.

I squeeze us through a few people before we get to the edge on the other side. My hips start moving with the music, but my eyes are on Garret.

“Are you okay?”

He blinks a couple of times and seems about to tell me something, but then he shakes his head.
