I look at him and grin. “Our first dance.”
He takes my hand and kisses the back. “It won’t be the last.”
I glance behind and see Emily and Elliot’s seat dancing as well.
The cart stops dancing, and we carry on going down and through the next door.
I hear a yelp from the cart in front. I look and yeah I would have yelped as well.
This looks like a Victorian school with ghost children, except these children don’t have eyes, just black holes. They keep running up to the carts and shouting, ‘Boo’.
“Because that’s not creepy or anything,” Adhan says.
“Yeah, these children get everyone,” Elliot says. “Now, we’ve saved the best room till last.”
I turn and grin at Elliot. “I can’t wait.”
I turn back around as we travel through to the next section. I gasp as we come through the door. “Now this is creepy and eww,” I say.
This section is like Dr Frankenstein’s laboratory. There are pieces of people here and there, in jars and on a table, with a shelf of heads. A mad scientist standing over a table, sewing parts onto the body lying on the table.
Thankfully there seems to be glass between us and this exhibit.
I’m not the only one who jumps when blood squirts out and hits the glass. And the heads let out screams of terror.
I watch in morbid fascination as the hands that are scattered around start moving and rushing the scientist.
The cart leaves the tunnel before we can see how that ends.
The cart goes through the final door and we come out into the open air and the entrance/exit point.
I stand up and look at Elliot, smiling. “That was awesome.”
“It really was, Elliot,” Emily says.
We climb off the cart.
“That was fun. I’m glad I rode it with you.”
Ebby and his family join us, as do Temp and Ben, Justice and Alfred.
“Thank you for the added elements,” Elliot says to us. “Some of which I will be keeping.”
“It was fun,” Temp says. “I hope you’re coming back next October.”
Elliot smiled and nodded. “I wouldn’t miss it.”
“Thanks,” Adhan says. “Also, if you ever want to come and stay for a rest or to play with magic with the others, know you’re always welcome.”
“Thank you. I might even take you up on that offer,” Elliot says. “Now unless I’m mistaken it’s nearly time for you to announce the winners of the pumpkin carving.”
Adhan checks the time on his phone. “It is, we’ll catch up with you later.”
“If you’re still around on the 5ththe town is having a bonfire and fireworks party,” I tell Elliot. “You’re all welcome. I’ll be at the manor holding a non-firework event.”
“Thanks, some of us might stick around for that. Now I must be getting on.”
“And us,” Adhan says, taking my hand.
