“Cumbers?”

“Come numbers. Try to keep up.”

“This might work better if you don’t talk,” she says, leaving the room in search of her shirt.

By the time I’m dressed, she’s lounging in the living room typing on her phone like nothing ever happened. It rings and she steps out on the porch to fill one of her friends in on her night. Not the part where she rode me like a misbehaving horse. She wants to keep that quiet. And considering I’m not prepared to tell my best friend of twelve years that I’ve become his little sister’s sex toy replacement, I’m on board with that plan. For now.

While she vents on the phone, I return to the video game I was playing before the glorious interruption. Dusty leaps onto the couch beside me and rests his head on my elbow. The game gets boring so I switch to Third Place. Lila still has her Small’s baby locked in a dungeon with a nanny. I should’ve done the same because apparently Stone’s baby has been traded for a bunch of grapes. I didn’t even know that was possible.

“Did you give away my baby?” I demand when she enters.

One glance at my screen and she grins. “You mean Stone’s baby? It kept giving me annoying notifications to feed it since you married my Small.”

“So you abducted him?”

“No, I let another Small abduct him in return for some fruit. I can get it back. Just give me a divorce.” She flops onto the couch and picks up the TV remote

“Denied.”

She may be feeling a little better but it’s clear she’s dwelling on things. A sudden idea occurs to me. “Your boss is a bitch. Let me have her phone number.”

She blinks and looks at me like I’m crazy. “Why? I already cursed her out. I don’t need you to defend me.”

“I’m not going to call her. I thought you might like a little revenge.”

Now, I have her interest. “What are you going to do?”

“Put it in a few men’s bathrooms.”

Rolling her eyes, she picks up her phone. “I’m not trying to get her laid.”

“Will you just trust me?” She reluctantly reads off the number. I put it in my contacts for future use then return to my computer screen. “Delilah, why is there a man in my house getting into my bed?”

“Ourbed. I upgraded it so it can fit three.” A smile stretches across her face. “We have a plural marriage now. Meet Peter, your brother husband.”

CHAPTER 18

LILA

A cold noseon my cheek is my morning wake up call. Dusty whines as soon as he sees my eyes open. “Okay,” I mumble. “I’m awake.” The soreness between my legs makes itself known as I sit up and run my fingers through my hair. My body aches as well. He really bent me every which way once he had me in his room. Damn, it was so good.

The decision felt a little impulsive and I’ll admit it was made partly out of frustration and anger. But I meant what I said. I always play things safe. I’m sick of it. I’m going to be working a lot and why shouldn’t I be able to come home to some mind blowing orgasms?

Sutton might drive me crazy sometimes but he’s sexy and amazing in bed. More importantly, he only wants the same thing that I do—sex with no strings attached. As long as Amos doesn’t find out, what’s the harm? Sneaking around might add to the fun.

Dusty’s bark gets me on my feet. He’s still young and has trouble holding his bladder. That bark means it’s urgent. I jerk on some shorts, clip the leash to his collar and take him outside. It’s early, but a few neighbors are out enjoying the cool Saturday morning.

Across the street, Donna hoses off her front porch while her husband cleans out their car. “Good morning!” I call.

“Not over here. Drunk idiot puked everywhere last night.” The drunk idiot in question spares me an annoyed glance before going back to scrubbing out his floorboard.

Holly laughs, walking over to join me while I wait for Dusty to pick the perfect spot to do his business. “Hey.”

“Hey girl. How was the date?” I saw that she made it back safely last night but we haven’t talked.

“Not as good as yours, apparently,” she teases. Her gaze is on my neck. Damn it all. Sutton did suck on my neck like a hungry vampire last night. I didn’t even glance in a mirror before I came out here. I’m sure I look like a mess with my unbrushed hair and everything but that doesn’t bother me. My neighbors have seen worse.

“Is there a big mark?” I ask, running my fingers over my neck.
