I’ll have to avoid him. How are you supposed to look your enemy in the eye after he’s rubbed your butthole? I could abandon my trailer and never go back. That’s a reasonable option, right?

Cara and Row interrupt my sudden downward spiral. “Holy shit, this place is huge!” Cara shouts, all smiles as she looks around.

“You haven’t seen half of it,” I laugh.

I spend the next half hour showing them around. Row listens closely to my description of what I’d like to do and discusses different options with me. He warns me that permits may be required and some restrictions might be in place since it’s an older building. “Let me look into that this week, then we can figure out what’ll work and I can give you a good estimate.”

It'll take me a week just to get the junk moved out and years worth of dust cleaned up. After we’ve seen everything, I offer to take them to lunch. Row has to leave, but Cara is happy to accept.

It’s a nice day so we choose a table on the patio of a local restaurant.

“Okay, how long am I supposed to act like I didn’t see you kiss Sutton last night?” Cara asks, grinning across the table.

“First of all, I didn’t kiss him. He kissed me. Second, you and Maren talked me into playing his girlfriend, so I’m blaming you both.”

“For him kissing you?”

“No, for him banging me on the counter like a can of biscuits.”

Cara’s mouth drops open. “Are you serious?”

“Unfortunately.”

She stares at me for a moment. “Was it that bad?”

If only it had been, I could stop thinking about it. Why couldn’t he have been like other men who either can’t find the clit or go at it like they’re scrubbing a lasagna pan? “No, it wasn’t bad. It was a mistake.”

She sits back, sipping her drink. “How not bad was it?”

“That’s not the point.”

“Lila.”

“It was so good I came three times.” I point at her. “This stays between us.”

“And Maren?” she asks.

“Well, yes, of course.” After everything we’ve been through together over the years, there aren’t secrets between us. “What are you doing?”

She’s already laid her phone on the table and called Maren on speaker. It’s a good thing we have the patio to ourselves. Maren barely utters a hello before Cara says, “Guess who joined the anger banger club?”

“I knew it! I saw that kiss!” Maren laughs. “Remember when you were mystified by how I could sleep with someone I hated? Mystery solved, huh?”

“She doesn’t hate him though,” Cara points out.

“Shh, she’s got to figure that part out on her own.”

Both of them giggle. “You’re both hilarious. This is not the same. He annoys the shit out of me. It was a one time mistake.”

“Okay, yeah, we hear you,” Cara says.

“It’s not going to happen again. Got it,” Maren adds.

I can’t help but grin at their teasing tones. They don’t believe me, but they’ll see. “Just keep it in the vault.”

“You know your secret’s safe with us,” Maren says. “Now, how big are we talking?”

These girls are crazy but I don’t know what I’d do without them. After lunch, Cara leaves and I get back to work. I’ve gotten a good start on sorting through what to toss once I get a dumpster delivered to the alley and what might be donatable when a text from Sutton interrupts me.
