There’sno way she heard fucking coming from…shit. Justus. Justus has a key to myapartment and he knew I’d be gone. I’ll kill him.

Grabbingmy phone from the table, I nearly crack the screen hitting his contact name.“Dare, what’s up?” he answers.

“Didyou bang some chick in my apartment Saturday night?” I demand.

Helaughs. He fuckinglaughsand I’m glad he isn’t in front of me rightnow. “Yeah, I changed your sheets, man. Didn’t think you’d mind. I worked abachelorette party and the chick was all over me. I didn’t want her to knowwhere I lived.”

“Andyou gave her my name,” I bark.

Hepauses. “How did you know that?”

“BecauseAyda heard her screaming it, you fuckwad! That’s why she won’t have anything todo with me.”

“Ohfuck. I’m sorry. I didn’t realize. I’ll tell Ayda. If you’ll give me hernumber.”

“I’mnot giving you her number! You’re going to get your ass over here and explainit to her face!”

“Allright! Yeah, give me a few minutes. I’ll be on my way.” I end the call and tossthe phone on the couch. I open my door just in time to see Ayda’s car speedoff. Shit.

“Leaveher alone. She doesn’t need your shit,” a voice warns. A young woman is walkingaway from Ayda’s front door, her blond hair blowing around her face. I’ve seenher at Ayda’s before, so she must be a friend.

“Ineed to talk to her. Where is she going?”

Thewoman scoffs. “Away from you as fast as she can.” She shakes her head. “Shefinally puts herself out there, and you turn out to be another asshole.”

“I’mnot…look, it was a misunderstanding. She heard a friend of mine using myapartment. I didn’t know about it and I’m going to kick his ass, but he’s onhis way now to tell her the truth.”

Herhand is perched on her hip while she thinks about it. “It wasn’t you? She heardthe woman say your name.”

Sighing,I run a hand through my hair. “He used my name to get laid. Look, it’s a longstory, but I need to find her.”

Blueeyes glare at me. “She’s been through hell. If you’re just trying to get laid, you need to move onto to someone else.”

“I’mnot. I…” I rub my palm across my face. “I care about her, okay? I just need herto know it wasn’t me. She’s hurt.”

Thewoman finally smiles. “She’ll be at the On Pointe Dance Academy from five untilnine. Wait until class is over. If you cause a scene and embarrass her, she’llhate you.”

“Thankyou,” I sigh, already counting down the hours until nine o’clock.

“Justbe good to her, or I’ll tear your nuts off and throw them in White River.”
