Sash stepped forward. “Be easy on them.”

Zu pulled her back. “They wanted in let them get this lesson.”

Beans ran his hand down his face. “Why did you choose us? From what I can see, Sash convinced you to take us on.”

Chevy turned toward Beans. The way he looked at him was different. “The one smart mouth ass nigga of the bunch. Sasha did put y’all on, but I,” he pointed at himself. “Choose you because I see something in each one of you.”

“Amen!” Preach said.

“Well!” Diamond added.

Beans stared Chevy down because he wasn’t buying it. “If you say so. The OGs need to start acting like we’re part of the crew.”

That’s when Foe stepped up, “Fuck is that supposed to mean. Nigga you’re new, act like it.”

I stepped forward. “Ease up on my boy nigga. I told you once.”

Dio came in between us. “Hell nah, we’re not doing that. Both you niggas better learn to get along. I’m not about to be riding here every other weekend to play babysitter for you niggas. What the fuck is the problem?”

Mali began laughing. I knew he was only laughing because he was drunk. Dio nodded slowly as he walked over to Mali and hit the shit out of that nigga. “Laugh at thatNigga!” he barked.

Rat-tat-tat-tata at! Rat-tat-tat-tata at!

Everyone turned back toward Chevy, holding the choppa. “What the fuck is wrong with you niggas? We don’t fight each other. We are a fucking family. Nobody in this bitch is better than the next. Either y’all figure this shit out, or I’m going to start hanging niggas new or old. Foe! Monfua! Figure this shit out now. It’s about to storm and I got a wife and kids to get back to, but we’re not leaving this muhfucka until you do.”

Streets walked up to Chevy. “Let them race it out. Whoever loses apologizes first. We end that shit tonight. I like the Zoo, but I have way too much shit going on to be a part of a group that can’t get along.”

Chevy nodded slowly. “Let’s ride!”

Here it was, I was about to race a nigga who kicked my fucking door in and pulled a gun on me all for a woman who didn’t even want me.

FOE

I didn’t say another fucking word as I brushed past Monfua to go outside. When I swung the door open, the rain smacked my face hard. I snatched my helmet and slid it onto my head. Harvey came on my side. “Baby, you don’t have to race. Let’s end this shit.”

I hit my kickstand and revved up my bike. I turned to see Monfua hop on his bike and revved up as well. Chevy came between us. “Two miles and back. Foe, keep this shit clean!” he yelled.

Freckles came forward with her orange rag. She held her arm up. I could see sadness all over her face, but I didn’t give a fuck. I knew the right thing to do would have been to apologize, but I couldn’t back down. The pride that was running through my veins wouldn’t let me. I began to get angrier at myself each second because in the back of my mind, I knew this shit was wrong.

When Freckles’ flag came down, I took off, and so did Monfua. The rain smacked my visor as I sped through the street. Monfua and I rode side by side until I picked up speed.Sixty, seventy, eighty.Suddenly, the nigga zipped past me.“Fuck!”I shouted.

“That’s right nigga, fuck! Respect it!” I heard him say.

I gear-switched as we both hit the corner with our bikes only inches from the puddle of water on the ground. The rain began coming down so hard and fast that I could barely see. When I did get better visibility, he swerved in front of me. I sped up again, now passing him. “Fuck you nigga!” I shouted.

He laughed. “You don’t scare me.”

“You need to be bitch nigga. Marrying my sister, fuck type shit you on?” I spat.

Monfua tailed me as we hit a point to turn around. I hit my brakes, sending the puddle of rain flying in his face as I turned. “I’m on the type of shit you should have been on with Harvey. You mad because I’m married and you not?” he added as he came zooming past me again.

The fact that he brought Harvey sent fire through me. The nigga was so far ahead I couldn’t catch up.“Fuck!”

Before I knew it, we were only a few blocks from the Zoo. I sped up, but it wasn’t enough to catch up with that nigga. However, as soon as we reached the Zoo. He hopped off his bike, and I jumped off mine, not able to hit my kickstand fast enough. I drew my gun and shot at his feet.

Bloaw! Bloaw! Bloaw!

Everyone stepped back as I watched Monfua Samoan ass shuck and jive on his two feet. Diamond shook his head. “Got my nigga dancing in the rain.”
