“And I love you. More than anything in the world,” he whispered. He then moved faster, harder, until she let out a cry, his name on her tongue, pleasure coursing through her.
Nathaniel broke apart right then as well, his arms strong around her body as they both trembled together in bliss. When they pulled apart, he slid her body against his so that her back was to his front.
“You know what I will tell Emily instead?” Nathaniel said suddenly.
“My goodness, you think of too many women while in our bedroom,” she told him, making him chuckle.
“I will tell her we are star-crossed lovers. She will approve of that.”
Grinning, she patted his hand on her waist. “Yes, quite the name for us. Now, we will have to think of an appropriate name for the child. Perhaps a constellation?”
“Andromeda? Orion?” he suggested, and she giggled.
“Perhaps too much of a mouthful.” She bit her lip and then asked, “I know that I am with child, but I do hope that will not stop us from our adventures, Nathaniel. We both have such plans for travel.”
“Ah.” He nodded from behind her, and he pulled her closer. “Do not worry, dear Jane. It is now my life’s mission to make you happy at all times. I have already booked us a blissful honeymoon to shores unknown, and then who knows where we will go from there? Our child will have to learn to get their sea legs.”
Jane spun around in his arms and clasped her hands to his face. “I knew I married you for a good reason.”
“Because of my hefty fortune and rakish good looks?”
She laughed. “Because you too have the heart of an adventurer.” She clasped the star pendant at her neck. “I cannot wait to see the world with you.”
She then kissed him, knowing that all her dreams had not only come true, but they were far better than she ever could have expected.
