“Well, isn’t this a nice surprise.” The feminine voice is a purr, sultry and dangerous, and I know without turning around that Wren Sterling is going to be standing behind me.

“Morning,” I say smoothly, turning to face her with a smile, coffee mug in hand.

“Do anything fun this weekend?” she asks, her eyes sparkling as she leans her shoulder against the doorjamb of the break room.

“I feel like you already know the answer to that.”

“I might.” Wren shrugs a shoulder and lets it drop. “Just interesting that you didn’t want to tell me you’d hooked up with my brother when I booked his appointment with you.”

“I didn’t put it together until I walked in the room and”—I swallow, trying to keep my voice even—“we remained professional during his session.”

Mostly.

And then he jerked us off in the barn and kissed me like he’d been starving for me. That feeling had quickly been doused byhis dismissal. This is why I need to stay away from him. He just wants casual and I want…more.

“I’m not saying you didn’t,” Wren muses, pushing off the wood until she’s standing at her full height. “I just think you should be careful.” Her voice has an odd tone to it, like she’s not quite okay admitting that.

“Listen… Jesse?—”

“Is my brother and I love him with all my heart.” With a sympathetic smile, she adds, “I just want to make sure that you don’t stop yourself from going after what you want.”

“Thanks,”—I frown—“I think.”

“You’re new here and if you’re looking for fun then my brother is probably a good choice, but if you’re looking for something else then I’d be honest with him.”

“And you don’t think this is overstepping? Jesse wouldn’t be pissed to find out you talked to me about this?”

She snorts. “Oh, I’m sure he’d have a few things to say, but big sister trumps temper tantrum. And besides, if youdostick around, you’ll learn real fast that our family is big and loud and in everyone else’s business.”

“That’s not obnoxious at all.”

“It definitely is and we’re very proud of it.” The gleam of mischief is back in her eyes as she glances at me and then the clock. “I need to get ready for my next appointment, but I just wanted to say thanks for taking care of my brother.” She’s almost out of the room when she turns back. “And don’t worry—what happens in the barn, stays in the barn.”

You’ve got to be fucking kidding me.
