Her laughter filled the room and his heart and that was all that mattered to him. He was going to give her that wedding she always dreamed about.

EPILOGUE

Three months later.

Alonzo and Kenya laughed as they danced to “Maybe” near the end of the reception. It had been a non-traditional kind of song to have at a wedding, but it was one that held meaning for them both. They’d danced to Whitney Houston’s “You Give Good Love” at the beginning. “You know, I was thinking that maybe we should get another one of those brownies and see what else I can find out.”

Kenya giggled and playfully slapped his shoulder, but didn’t miss a beat. “I don’t think so, Alonzo Bennett. I believe I’ve shared everything you need to know. Besides, I don’t need THC since I have AMB. You’re all the high I’ll ever need.”

Alonzo Marquis Bennett. He grinned. “Yeah, baby, Iam, and you’re all I’ll ever need. But there are a few strains that are said to enhance pleasure in the bedroom.”

Her eyebrows shot up and a sultry smile curved her lips. “Mmm, I might have to give that some thought when we get back.” She moved closer and crooked a finger. He bent and she whispered, “For now, since we both enjoy tasting, I packed a jar of my chocolate sauce to take on the honeymoon.”

He straightened. “See, comments like that will get you carried off the dance floor and into whatever empty room I find at this hotel.” He pulled her flush against him. “Feel what you do to me, Mrs. Bennett? Say the word and we’re out of here.” They’d already done the bouquet and garter toss, tasted the cake, and had the first danceandtheir last dance. As far as he was concerned they could party without them. He just wanted to be alone with his wife.Wife.The word had a sweet sound to it.

“We can’t just leave.”

“Wanna bet?” Alonzo grabbed her hand and started off the dance floor and toward the exit.

“You two look so happy,” his mother said, intercepting them and dabbing at the corners of her eyes. She’d been crying all day.

He sighed inwardly. There goes my escape.Kenya smiled knowingly and he sighed again.

“I agree,” Mrs. Grant said, coming to stand by his mother. “And the best part…”

The two older women looked at each other with big grins and chorused, “Grandbabies!”

Kenya chuckled. “You know the longer we stay here, the longer it’ll take for us to get started on those grandbabies you keep talking about.”

Alonzo’s mother looked at Mrs. Grant. “She has a point, Avis.”

“We can start clearing out these people now, Roz,” Mrs. Grant said.

They took off across the ballroom. Alonzo and Kenya looked at each other and burst out laughing. He said, “Gotta love Mamas.”

“Amen, and amen.”

“But I love you more.” He slanted his mouth over hers in a kiss that held the promise of a lifetime of love and joy. Kenyawas the love of his life and he had everything he needed. Alonzo smiled, anticipating the amazing life awaiting them.
