I heard him gasp, then felt another swat, this one with a bit more force.
“Inside now or I’ll forget I’m a gentleman.”
Before I could retort, he gently pushed me inside and pulled the door shut.He spoke through the closed door.“Dream of me.”
I leaned against the door and slid down it until I was sitting on the floor.Bank the fire, girl, or you’re gonna be a pile of ash on this floor.I didn’t try to get up until I heard his car engine start followed by the sound of him driving away.
I made my way into my bedroom and undressed.Luckily, the ties on the bodice were at the bottom where I could reach them.
Dream of him, he said.He didn’t have to know I was already doing that.My skin still tingled from the swats he’d given me.Maybe if I was a good girl next week, I could get him to give me more.A giggle escaped. Was working for Fantasies, Inc.corrupting me?
Nope.I’d wanted to explore the kinkier side of sex for a while now, and I trusted Asher more than any man in my life.Could I get him on the same page?
Chapter Twenty-Five
Asher
My mind had been filled with Emma not wanting to go inside.I’d been tempted to push her inside and find her bedroom, but she wasn’t ready yet.
We hadn’t had The Talk.I needed to find out how far she was willing to go with me.I grinned.Yes, I had some kinky tastes, and while I was pretty sure Emma could handle what I’d like to do to her, that didn’t mean we didn’t need to talk about it.That was going to happen sooner rather than later.
It had been a busy week in the office, so Emma and I didn’t get to talk much outside of work, and that conversation was not something I wanted to handle over the phone and definitely not in or around the office.
“Time to head out,” I said.
“Five minutes,” she muttered as she continued typing.
“That’s all I’m giving you.”If I wasn’t careful, she’d stretch those five minutes into an hour or more. When Emma was in the zone, she barely remembered anything else.I found myself making sure she took breaks.
She would get upset with me for interrupting her and making sure she took a walk to get coffee or a snack. She always thanked me for making sure she moved, but there were still times when she pushed.
I gave her eight minutes, and when she didn’t come up for air, I pulled her chair back.
“Hey.”She leaned back and glared at me.
“You said five minutes; I waited three extra minutes.”
Something must have shown on my face, because she didn’t even try to argue or get more time.Instead, she stood and shut down her workstation.
“Anyone ever tell you you’re a bossy SOB?”
“Rarely. But most people remember to take a break and give their mind a chance to recharge. You, on the other hand…”
It was getting easier to read Emma.I watched her expression as she gave way to necessity.Don’t say I told you so, and for god’s sake, Ash, don’t look smug.
“Okay, you’re right…again.”She raised her hands in mock surrender.“Thanks.I would have stayed at this for several more hours.”
“Which is why I insisted.”
“Don’t you ever get so involved with a task you forget where you are?Or how much time has passed?”She gathered up her things, hoisted her bag onto her shoulder, then as she always did before leaving, turned in a circle to be sure she hadn’t forgotten anything.
“I do.”She turned out the lights as I set the alarms, and we walked out the door together.“Haven’t you noticed my alarm going off.”
“Now that you mention it, yes.”
“I set one for two hours when I start coding, so I don’t get lost.”I’d done that for years because, like Emma, I could dig in so deep, the world could end, and I wouldn’t know the difference. That wasn’t good.
“I probably need to start doing that.”
