Blair ended the call, looking directly at Gianna. “That was Luna. When was the last you heard from Finn?”

“He texted me this morning before he went to the office with Allister and Dante. Why? What’s going on?” Gianna asked. The tightness in her abdomen only got worse when she realized that Finn hadn’t answered her in a couple of hours. He hadn’t even read her text. “Blair? What’s wrong?”

“Something happened at the office, and he disappeared. The boys can’t find him anywhere and his phone is turned off.”

“What happened?” Cecilia asked. “Did Luna mention anything?”

Blair shook her head. “All she said was that he finally found out the truth about his father.”

Gianna pulled out her phone, immediately trying to call him but it went to voicemail. She tried again, but still no answer. She sent him a text asking if he was okay, to at least give her some response to let her know she didn’t have to worry, but nothing.

She stood up, grabbing her purse and opening her bedroom door. There was no way she was going to be able to sit there and wait for him to answer her, not when he was clearly in a bad headspace. She needed to make sure Finn was okay, or at the very least, alive. God, the thought sent a stab of pain through her heart.

“Where are you going?” Blair asked.

“I’m going to go look for him.”

“What happened to taking time to think things through?”

Gianna shook her head. “I don’t care. He’s out there alone somewhere and I’m going to at least try to find him. He would do the same for me, so I’m not leaving him alone.”

Cecilia grabbed her arm. “Do you want us to come with you?”

“No. It’ll be better if I’m alone. If you guys stay here, please text me if he comes home.”

Blair sighed. “Take my car at least. It’ll be easier to drive.”

“Thank you.”

“Just keep us updated and please be careful.” She squeezed her hand tightly. “If your brother comes home, we’ll tell him you went to practice.”

“And here I thought you were above telling lies,” Cecilia said, cracking a smile.

“Never for my best friends,” Blair said.

Gianna gave them a quick hug before pulling away. “I love you both.”

She rushed down the stairs to the garage where Blair’s bright red convertible sat. Grabbing the keys, she walked to the car andgot in. The top was up, and she decided to leave it like that. The wind blowing through her hair in the middle of her worrying would only send her over the edge.

Luckily, Gianna actually knew how to drive. She wasn’t an expert driver by any means, but when she turned sixteen, her father made her take driving classes and get her license. She rarely had to use it because they were always being driven around and they lived in such a walkable neighborhood, but at times like this, it seriously came in handy.

She turned on the car, and it purred to life. Once the garage was open, she carefully pulled out, testing the brakes and the gas to get comfortable. Only when she was past the gate and on the road did she feel comfortable enough to drive with more haste, thinking about every single place Finn could be.

It was a long list, but she needed to check every one of them. Gianna only prayed that he hadn’t left New York completely. Considering his bike was still at home though, she doubted it. Or at least she hoped he would need it if he was deciding to leave.

She sighed, pressing on the gas. Regardless of everything, she was going to find her Finn. She would be there for him the way he had been there for her. Gianna just hoped he was open to company.

THIRTY-FOUR

GIANNA

So far Giannahad driven to the arena where Fight Night usually took place, the lake where they had gone to a couple of times, and even the hotel they stayed the night at. He was at none of those places.

She was losing time which only added to her stress. Cecilia had texted saying that he hadn’t made it home yet and that Luna and the boys still couldn’t pinpoint his location either. He was sending everyone on a wild chase at that point, and it was maddening.

The only place Gianna considered going but hesitated was the old Kinglsey house that had been burnt to the ground by Finn himself. From what Luna had told them, there was nothing left. Even the ashes had been blown away. That was why Gianna had been resistant to even make the drive out knowing it would take a good hour to get there, but when desperation called, she answered.

The only memories Gianna really had of Luna’s family home were from their younger years and usually they were tainted with a dark shadow. That shadow had been their father, Reece Kingsley. While the girls were growing up, there were so many times where the sleepovers at Luna’s house felt more like aprison than it did anything else. Luna and Finn had always seemed so desensitized to the way they lived with the constant surveillance and the control their father had on every aspect of their lives. Gianna hated going over, but sometimes it was the only way to see Luna. College had been a saving grace for both of the Kingsley kids and burning that house to the ground was the best choice for it.
