“Did you really think I would choose you over Villainous? You dumb bitch.”
Watching the blood continue to spill from the back of her neck doesn’t do shit to me. I watch her fall to the floor, and I let out an exhale.
Villainous stares at me in shock, and then he says, “That was hot.”
I untie the rope from his hands and his feet, and he stands up, towering over me. He yanks me into his arms and kisses me fiercely. I’ve never loved a person the way I love him. He has my heart, always. “How did I do with the cutting?”
He glances down at her body. “It doesn’t matter, little dove. For a second there, you had me going.”
He picks me up, and I wrap my arms around his neck and my legs around his waist. I feel his erection digging into my panties, and butterflies flop in my stomach. “I had to do what I had to do to survive. I love you so much.”
“I love you too.”
Once he sets me down, he digs into his pocket and tosses me the car keys. “As much as I want to fuck you, you need to leave so I can get rid of the body.”
I nod and give him a kiss on the lips. “Thank you.”
Once I get home, I turn the knob on the shower and remove my bloody clothes, then toss them in a trash bag. I can’t believe I killed someone again. This time, I don’t feel remorse—Noemi got what she deserved. And there is another person I want to take care of, and it’s my mother. Once I finish scrubbing my body raw, I grab the towel from the rack and dry off, then toss it to the floor. I grab Villainous’s robe from the corner of the door and wrap the thick cotton fabric around my body. The robe drags as I walk slowly to the dungeon. Once I’m there, a tall soldier peers down at me and tries not to stare.
I want to use the stuff that Villainous gave Kate to kill Kennedy. I’m still learning how to maneuver around being a murderer, and I don’t want to stab her like I did with Noemi. Even though I hate my mother, I don’t want her death to be painful.
“Where does Villainous keep his weapons?” I ask him.
He cocks his left eyebrow and doesn’t respond.
“I need it to kill my mother.”
“Villainous had her escorted out of his dungeon thirty minutes ago.”
Anger courses through my veins. “Did he say why?”
“I’m afraid I can’t, Miss Devoy.”
“She’s my mother, for fuck’s sake.”
“I’m sorry.”
I step into the elevator. As soon as Villainous gets home, we’re going to have a talk. She was my kill, not his. I told him not to kill her, and he goes behind my back and does this. Great, now we’re going to have our first fight back together. I storm off back to the bedroom, waiting for him to show up.

Several hours later, I stroll through Maya’s bedroom door, and she’s still asleep. I guess last night must have knocked her out. So, I sit in the lounge and watch her sleep. I’ve been doing this since I brought her out of the cell. I can’t believe she killed to save my life. I’m going to spend the rest of my life making it up to her. I love this little woman so much, and I can’t spend another day without her. She has my dark heart. And I can’t believe we’re finally going to be together. Fuck it—I can’t stand not being near her, so I kick off my shoes and stand up from the lounge chair and slide into bed next to her, wrapping my arms around her waist and pulling her close to my chest. She rolls over to face me, and her doe eyes land on me.
“Hey,” she says. “What time is it?”
“It’s six in the morning.” I remove a few strands of hair from her face and stroke her cheek. “Did I tell you how beautiful you look in the morning?”
“Do I? Because all I can smell is my morning breath, and my hair looks like a rat’s nest.”
“Yet you’re the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen.”
Her breasts bounce as she sits up, and I want to rip her bra off and suck on them.
“Did you handle the situation?”
“Of course, I did. Devious says you guys are even since he helped me take care of the situation.”
She frowns as if she doesn’t believe it. “Okay. Whatever. Where is my mother? I thought we agreed you weren’t going to kill her. When I went to the dungeon to kill her, she wasn’t there. I was going to kill her the way you killed Kate. You know, inject her with the stuff to make her go to sleep in her death.”
