“You know I’ll always love you,” I say. I feel Noemi’s eyes on me, and she frowns at my words.
“Okay, I’ll be there.” He ends the call, and she gets up from my lap. I grab her by the arm. “I had to tell him all those things because if Villainous finds out what we’re up to, then he’ll come here suspicious. And we can’t have that. We have to catch him off guard.”
“I know,” she says with sadness in her tone.
“We need to put the driver’s dead body in the car because if Villainous sees it, then he’s going to be thrown off.”
“Right,” she states.
“Once we put the driver’s body in the car, we stand by the door and wait,” I tell her as I stand up. She grabs me by the neck and kisses me hard, and I pull away.
“What was that for?” I ask.
She slides her fingers through my silky hair. “For having my back. I really didn’t want to kill you.”
“I know you would do it for me if the shoe was on the other foot.” I murmur against her forehead.
“I sure would.”
Maya
Anticipation crawls in my gut as the headlights from the car shine through the white curtains, and my heart beats like a drum at a rock concert. This is it. I’ll be able to get my revenge on him once and for all. I’ll get rid of the man who keeps breaking my heart and stomping on it. I’ve given him so much, and I’m going to show him that he won’t be able to fuck with me again.
Once the wooden door opens, his two guards enter, and Noemi pulls the trigger. Both of his soldiers fall to the ground. I grip the knife in my hand, feeling the itch to stab him. I want him to suffer the way he made me.
Once Villainous walks in with his gun out, passing me, I hold the knife to his throat and dig the blade in but not enough to break his flesh.
“Get on the ground,” I say calmly.
He turns to face me, and his gaze meets mine. Curiosity and betrayal swim in the depths of his baby blues. The gun is aimed at my chest, and his eyes move back and forth as if he’s having an internal battle with himself. Noemi snatches the gun from him.
“Do what I say before I kill you,” she states.
He does what she says as his eyes stay glued to mine. Then we usher him to the chair and tie rope around his body and legs.
“I’ll be back. I’m going to get the ax out of the bedroom,” Noemi says. “If he moves an inch, then shoot him.”
I nod as she disappears from the living room. Villainous is quiet and plotting on how we’re going to die. He probably already has a game plan on how he’s going to get out of this situation. I need to keep him talking so he’ll be distracted.
“You’re not going to beg for your life?” I say. “Or ask why I’m about to kill you?”
Noemi walks into the room with the ax in her hand.
“No, because I’m going to paint this whole cabin with your blood and hers. And I’m a shooter, little dove. I don’t question why someone betrayed me unless I care about them, but you’re pissed off I treated you like shit, so it’s human nature to want to get revenge.” He knits his eyebrows together. “I want to know why you’d team up with Noemi.”
“You killed my brother, asshole. Chuck. You killed him and got rid of the body.”
A vile smile spreads across his face. “And I’ll do it again too. Piece of shit had his hands all over my woman. You want to know how I killed him?” Villainous smirks. “I shot him seven times in the face, and his brain decorated Maya’s couch. It was one of the most beautiful scenes I’ve ever seen.”
Tears well in Noemi’s eyes, and she raises her ax to swing at him, but I snatch it from her. “Don’t kill him out of anger because you’ll be sloppy, and it’s what he wants you to do. I know how he is—I’ve been around him when he kills.”
“Yes, listen to little dove. She’s smart. I’m going to get out of here, and when I do, both of you are going to die. I’m going to shove my dick in you one last time, little dove, so I can get my last fill of you, and Noemi, your death is going to be quick.”
“He taught me how to slit a person’s throat. Go for his throat,” I tell her. “Let’s do it, but first, let me get all of his weapons from his body.” I bend my knees and slip my hand in Villainous’s holster and grab his two handguns and his knife. “It’s been fun while it lasted.” I kiss the side of his temple, and he grinds his molars. “I’m going to miss you when you’re gone.” Then I grab the knife he threatened to cut my tongue out with, get up from my knees, and turn around and stand behind Noemi.
I shove the knife into her hand. “Do your worst, babe.”
She nods, slowly striding toward Villainous, whose eyes are filled with terror and rage. I clutch the butcher knife hard and stab Noemi in the back of her neck, and she makes a gasping sound. Blood sprays with the beats of her heart, and I jump out of the way, but not fast enough. Her hot blood sprays all over my forehead and my yellow dress. She turns around with her mouth gaped open in shock.
